Hard drive not working

Hi i realise your discussions were awhile ago but my Xbox one as of yesterday is not recognising my 4tb external hard drive which is rendering my Xbox useless. I'm at a loss here, has anyone found a solution to this?

Hard Drive not working

Hello,

If this hard drive was just purchased newly, you might want to consider returning the hard drive to the retailer where you purchased it and exchanging it for a new one. That is not normal for a new hard drive to do. Are you 100% sure that it was a new hard
drive in Microsoft official packaging or was it a off brand/3rd party hard drive? This sort of activity happens normally with cheaply made 3rd party fake/knock off hard drives.

Hard Drive not working

a month or so ago i bought a hard drive for me xbox slim because i was running out of room. it wasnt working at first and it started to make me mad so i just left its be. my issue was every time i tried to transfer anything to my new hard drive i would get
the loading screen then nothing would happen n my xbox would restart...i even tried saving my game to the hard drive and all it would do would restart my xbox. what can i do...i bought the correct hard drive for my xbox slim but it just wont work. restarts
every time i try something

I'm sorry to hear about the issue. Have you tried plugging your HDD into a different USB port? Or trying a different USB cable? You may also want to try

power cycling your console to see if that helps. Try doing the power cycle with your external HDD unplugged as well.

It does sound like you know what you are doing, if anything I suspect faulty hardware. The next course of action I would take would be to contact the "shop" you purchased the hdd from and get an exchange. Whilst annoyingly time consuming I don't believe
you have any other current options. Sorry.

As a side note I highly recommend you look into changing your gamertag.

Are you sure it was a brand new, never opened console? There are no 8gb hard drives for the 360.

If it was an 8gb it's possible it was a knock off and would not have been authorized for use anyway and would have gone bad.

Unfortunately, with any form of storage, unless you had everything backed up somewhere else, there will be no way to replace the files. Anything you downloaded can be redownloaded, but you would not be able to recover game saves. If it is an official hard
drive, you could contact Microsoft for a repair since it should still be under warranty, but they will not be able to get the files back.
