Hard Drive not registering

XBOX 360 Slim, 320GB HDD. stopped reading, requested to format the HDD. Took the HDD and tried backing it up on my PC however after the format the hard drive has lost all XBOX compatability (becomes a blank storage device). does not register when inserting
it into the console either...

Any idea whether there is a firmware or stock OS which can be installed onto the Hard Drive to get it to its original state? the data loss isn't an issue at this stage..

Error code 8007045D

Thats kinda haerd to do now that its not reading the drive at all i pulled it out and everything put it in and started up and the drives not registering

External harddrive

my xbox isnt registering my external hard drive being plugged in i hard reset my console and i tried using a different usb port and everything the light will come on the hard drive blink for awhile then cut off

Hey there DAAAH 1.

Connecting your Xbox 360 HDD to your PC is not supported and changing the firmware of the hardware would void your warranty. I'm afraid if your HDD isn't working purchasing a replacement is going to be your best option.

Some notable info from the article include :

For an external storage drive to save games and apps from Xbox One, it must meet the following requirements:

It uses a USB 3.0 connection. If you’re using a USB hub, the hub must also be USB 3.0 or later.
It has 256 GB or larger storage capacity.
It has a partition. Typically, drives come wit a preformatted partition. For more information about partitioning an external hard drive, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
No more than three storage devices are connected to the console at the same time.

Genesis1953- I saw u had posted this info on another feed so I tried it before posting. Unfortunately didn't work, thanks for reposting for me

Parasimpatico- thanks. Tried a hard reset a few times now and nothing. Sucks but looks like I may need to format again ! Really won't be impressed if this happens every time a new update comes out.

This has helped some users. Disconnect the external HDD. Then hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in
and restart the console (DO NOT connect the external HDD yet. Once it is back up and operational connect the external HDD. Test for results. Let us know. Good Luck!
