Hard Drive not installing games

One more thing to add...

every game that plays is also installed on my hard drive. One game installed on my hard drive no longer plays. Remaining games no longer play and are not installed on my hard drive.

Don't know if that's relevant info....

Is the game installed on an external hard drive or internal hard drive?

I installed them on my old xbox one and transferred them to the external hard drive so I know they are on the hard drive

All my installed games appear correctly as installed on my Xbox one if I connect the hard drive to it. But when I connect the hard drive to my Series S, most of the installed games appear but about 9 of them do not. The missing games appear as ready to install on my Series S

Are your games installed on the console's internal hard drive or an external hard drive?

Try installing the game to the Hard Drive:

      Insert the game disc into the disc drive.

Note After you insert the disc, the default option is to automatically start the game. If the game starts, exit the game, and return to the Xbox Dashboard.

1. Go to Home.
2. Highlight the game you want to install with your controller.
3. Press Y on your controller.
4. Select Install to Hard Drive.

A progress indicator appears while your game is installed to your hard drive. Installing a game to your hard drive can take up to 12 minutes.

Notes

• Installing a game to your hard drive requires between 4 and 8 gigabytes (GB) of free disc space.
  
• After installing a game on your hard drive, you still need to have the game disc in the disc drive when you start the game.
  
• Installing games on your hard drive improves load times and minimizes game disc access.
  
• Original Xbox games can't be installed on an Xbox 360 Hard Drive.
