hard drive not formatting

Hello,

i have a kesu 1tb ext hdd that i want to use with the xboxone

i plug it in, it sees the drive, and asks if i want games or music

i tell it games>format warning> format confirm.

it then just goes back to the storage page, and the drive doesnt show in the manage section.

and as it cant see it, the format option is no longer offered

what am i doing wrong?

yes i’m pressing the format button and not the cancel

I have just bpught a 2tb wd drive and mine wont format either and have just got the new windows 10 dashboard

do you have more then one external drives connected?

There is a limitation to 3 Game HDD..

other ideas I don't have now

The Format Hard Drive function is also there so that you can format external USB 3.0 HDD's with the appropriate Xbox partition for saving games etc. By default, a new external HDD would come with a FAT or NTFS partition which cannot be used for installing
Xbox games. A NTFS partitioned external hard drive can be used however for extended Game DVR clips.

Game updates can only be downloaded on to the drive the game is installed to, regardless of what drive is now default for installing or downloading new content. So, if you had have a game on the internal drive, it needs an update but you
don't have enough space, you would need to do one of the following.

1. Move the game to the external drive with the free space.

2. Or delete content on the drive where the game is located to allow the game to be updated.

This should prevent any confusion in the future.
