Hard drive not detected

When I turn on the xbox it will not load. If I remove the hard drive it will load as normal although with no starage available and the hard drive will not load on another console. Is there a way I can service the hard drive so as not to lose data stored
on it?

Formatting the drive on your pc was a mistake as the xbox firmware pre-installed on the drive will have been erased in favour of the new format (now pc).

This is why you can no longer see the drive on the console and why you had such a hard time recognizing it during the transfer.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about this. You will have to purchase a new drive. Only this time, just plug it into the console instead of trying to format it on the computer.

I would suggest going over the steps listed here.
support.xbox.com/.../hard-drive . If none of this works, the HDD may actually be damaged , and need replaced.

Sorry but Microsoft do not service hard drives. You will have to purchase a new one.

nope sorry ONLY 3rd party bootleg transfer cables do this MS ones do not, you had a bootleg cable to be fair they look VERY convincing (they even have real looking stickers).

I had this problem i just connected it with the data transfer cable and it worked but doesent work as a main memory

I realize this thread is old, but I was having an issue with my Xbox 360 Slim, Glossy made in 2010.

I removed my hard drive 1 time very carefully and re-inserted i. When I powered on the xbox I got error e68. I unplugged and replugged everything in and it worked but my hard drive was not detected. It turns out that the SATA cable that goes into the back
if the hard drive somehow got unplugged, That fixed my xbox. Just to help anyone who has this issue.

Sorry, but when the console didn't recognise the hard drive that first time, that should have been a signal: There is a chance that the hard drive is corrupted (that is the chance of buying a used drive.)

Even if you manage to re-format a bad drive, there is still a chance that some of the drive's sectors are beyond repair; thus, making the whole drive bad.

I wouldn't try repairing it - just take it back in for your money back.
