Hard Drive Messing Up?

Hello, Xbox.

I have an Xbox 360 Slim, the 4GB one, and I'm using an external Toshiba hard drive, with 30GB. When I first started using it, after configuration it said that the hard rive didn't "meet Xbox 360 standards and may cause problems". During the first week of
use, the hard drive didn't cause any problem, but after a freezing problem with Spartan Ops, the Xbox would freeze and wouldn't cut off until I pressed the power button about 4 times. On reboot, the hard drive (external) would not show up in my storage devices
and I would have to unplug it and re-plug it up, and sometimes it wouldn't even show up. I've moved all my games except for Halo 4 to my 4GB HDD Thing, and I deleted Halo 4. The only thing on that external is a copy of my profile and the normal Xbox Live things
included.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or is it just because of my external hard drive?

Can't Download Purchased Content on new Hard Drive

They basically confirmed that it was the hard drive. Ah well, at least it wasn't the Xbox itself messing me over.

Reformatting x1 external HDD for 360 use

I want to reformat one of my xbox one external hard drives so I can use it on my xbox 360

Is this possible?

I don't want to go messing about then rendering the drive unusable

It's more than likely the drive itself. Remember, you did get a warning that there might be problems with it.

I would recommend either getting another external drive or an official Xbox 360 hard drive to prevent this from happening in the future.

Thanks, I've removed the external, and it works perfectly. So that was the problem. Sooner or later, I'm going to get an actual Xbox 360 hard drive, since you gotta have 'em to play Halo 2 and other original Xbox games.

Sounds like your hard drive has come to the end of it's life I'm sorry to say. You could try attaching it to a different Xbox to see if maybe the issue is with the console but I'd say it is with the hard drive.

You'll need to set up a repair for the hard drive. Register your console using the above website and you will find out if your in or out of warranty for this issue.

^^^^^ Couldn't be more true. It has been said on here so many times please people stay away from third party transfer cables!!!!!!!!

Once the custom formatting and security data is gone, there's no sanctioned method to get them back.
