Hard Drive Issue

I've owned a Xbox 360 Slim for 4 years now. Over the past week, every time my Xbox connect to Live, it performed at an extremely slow rate making it impossible to play. Finally, it froze and I rebooted it. However once it rebooted, it couldn't recognize
anything on the hard drive. I was forced to reformat the hard drive losing all my save data. I thought that would be the end of it but in less than 24 hours, it froze again and I was forced to reformat it again. I'm a bit fed up and I don't even feel like
turning it on. However, I didn't buy an Xbox to stare at it on my shelf so hopefully someone might be able to help me resolve this issue.

The no gamer pic and 0 gamerscore on my friends list just happened even though it was fine this morning. Everyone is a silver it says as well. Not sure what the problem is, seeing as I just turned it on and this happened. My 360 hasn't been freezing either,
but it did take a tiny bit longer to connect to Live randomly and nothing has been changed.

Have you tried using another Hard Drive, as that may help. Also, you could try the troubleshooting steps that are provided within this link bellow

This may help with your issue.

If not then you may have to send your console for repair. To do this, please head over to, www.support.xbox.com

Then click onto repair at the bottom of the page

I just had this happen to me and I hope you don't end up like it did for me.

support was NO HELP.

the steps I took clean out your cashe , this should in most cases fix it.

My issue was 320 HDD stated "unformatted"(been using it for 6-7 months, so still new)

took me 3-4 days to even get my system to format the drive.

Out of anger I pulled the drive and all other items (thumbsticks, cams etc.)jammed the HDD with force into slot it formatted (@ great cost to me with many years of lost saves and items no longer aval. from XBL) I just did it a few mins. ago, so unknown if
it will do it again.

I recommend you get a thumb stick for your profile, you won't have to recover your tag this way.

I feel you on this also turn on your cloud and use it just in-case the poorly built system acts up again like this. When it comes to game systems the saying you get what you pay for does NOT apply it's all about profit, the cheaper they make it the more
they make(MONEY) Because we all know you can take it with you when you past away. There is a support spot on this issue as you know none of those things can be done when your drive comes up as "UNFORMATTED" ALL OTHER OPTIONS ARE CLOSED OUT besides FORMAT.
I did post on that issue as being mis-leading trouble shooting for this issue.

I knew I had lost everything when my Xbox wanted me to reformat the drive. It has happen twice and I was just curious if there was anyway to stop it from happening again but I guess there is no guarantee. I don't see any point in buying another hard drive
when I don't even know what is wrong. Not expecting much from Xbox Support since my Xbox is 4 years old but I figure I might as well try my luck since I'm not buying another console. For the meantime, I'll take your advice and start using memory sticks.

That walks hand and hand with the HDD issue.

Even that XBL will not admit to the day mine went down there was an attack to live also(being rumored) another is to come around march 20th, how true is unknown.

Like I said before when system states HDD is unformatted NO OTHER OPTION IS CLICKABLE yet support will push the clean cashe as a possible fix even that your system will not let have that option as it is closed out(shaded) shows how much they truly know about
the xbox360 S models.

You could also try (if you have the NEW transfer cable for the slim model)Plug it up to ur PC let it run (should do it auto, I forgot I tried that 1st before the rage slam) then try formatting HDD (so far I have not had any issues)
