  1. Hard drive issue or Wi-Fi Module Board issue?

I have NEVER gotten past the initial update screen on my XBOX One Model 1540 500GB Console, and I am getting error code 0x80070003, which, as it turns out, is an XBOX Live error code. My controller doesn't connect, and my Windows 10 PC doesn't display any
updates for my controller on the XBOX Accessories UWP App--I can connect it to my PC without a problem. I can't do a Offline System Update because I don't have one of the required build numbers to install both OSU 1 and OSU 2. I can't pull up the System
Updates Troubleshooter either. However, there is a repair shop in my town that will fix the problem for the cost of the replaced part(s) + $50 for the diagnostics test. So I am wondering, does this problem sound like a HDD Issue or a Wi-Fi Module Board issue?
It would be cheaper for him to replace the Wi-Fi module, so I'm hoping that's what it is. Does anybody know?

    :)

    Hey there AscensionOfAres,

To clarify, is the console booting up and allowing you to get to the dashboard, or are you seeing that error before the console turns on? Could you perhaps share a picture of the error code with us?

  5. Yes the console powers up just fine. I will provide a picture as soon as I can. I need to get a new controller because mine had a battery compartment issue.

  6. No problem, at what point do you see the error code? Have you tried to use another person's controller and internet connection to see if the same thing happens?

  7. The error code occurs as soon as the update screen appears. It doesn't even get to 0%. First it says Start the Update, then when I click on the Start the Update option, it says Getting Things Ready for about 3-5 seconds, and then switches to the error
screen, saying "There was a problem with the Update," and the error code I get every time is not listed as an option for any OSU files on the XBOX One Startup and Update Troubleshooter instructions site. To make things easier for us, I will provide a set of
photos of the error code screens as soon as I get a new controller, which should happen within a week or so.

In response to the last part of your question, the funny thing is, I have tried my friend's controller, and his works just fine. However, mine could connect to my PC without a problem, and according to my console and controller LED lights, my old controller
remained connected throughout the problem. I have also tried it out in a different internet connection, and I still get the same error.

Note: I'm not 100% certain of the exact build number of my Xbox One, and will verify the correct one as soon as my new controller arrives, but I think I have build 6.2.13332.0 (xb_rel_1508.150903-2141) fre.

Gotcha, thanks for the details, have you tried to get to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter portion before getting to the update? That will display the OS Version of the console and allow you to either use the Troubleshooting guide on the console to reset the
console or you can continue to use the guide
    HERE
to install the updates offline to see if it helps.

How to get to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter

    1. Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.
    2. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
    3. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
    4. Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console.
    5. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
    6. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

Based on the error you're seeing and to use the proper flow for troubleshooting, you'll want to select "I need to update my console offline" then "Original Xbox One". That should put you on the path to success.

Let us know how it goes!

  9. Yes, I have tried, but can't get the Startup troubleshooter to appear. I've tried a few dozen times now, but never hear the second power up tone, even after holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for longer than a minute on multiple occasions.

So is it possible to determine whether it is the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth board or the HDD that's causing the problem?

If we can't figure out what it is, I'll just take it in. The only reason I asked is because I just want to be at least 90% confident the repair serviceman is charging me for the proper replacement part based on the problem.

  10. If it's not allowing you to get to the troubleshooter screen, it's more likely the issue is related to the hard drive, but we couldn't 100% confirm that. It seems unlikely that the network hardware would cause this. What about doing the Offline update using
a USB Drive, have you tried that yet? I understand you want to take it in, I just want to make sure we've tried everything before you get to that point. As soon as the console is opened, it will become ineligible for repair through Microsoft. You might want
to check to see the cost of repair through the online service center
    HERE
as well, before you commit to the repair.
