Hard drive isn't working. Checking to see if it's an alpha testing issue.

So what happens after 6 months and there are still bugs? In an Evolve article they said they hard a working rough setup after 3 months, so they have been working an testing since, even their alpha had issues.

testing with people in the office isn't whats needed tested by millions worldwide is.

On PC some games are released at alpha and beta stages, normally at reduced prices, that allows for true level testing and keeps customer expectations at a certain level.

Update-

It appears to be an issue with the hard drive cables/hard drive. I took the hard drive out, turned it on and it turns on every time, but as soon I try starting it with the hard drive installed it turns on then off. The hard drive isn't the issue as I tested
my other Xbox hard drive as well.

The best way to test this is to see if you can borrow a hard drive from a friend and attach there hard drive to your console and see if it acts the same way. If so you know it is the console. If your friends hard drive works fine then you know it is your
hard drive that is the issue and you will need to get a new hard drive for your console. I hope this helps.

I'm on the alpha preview and haven't had these issues. Try using the console without the external drive and see if that goes away. The only other thing I can think of is perhaps the hard drive in the console is dying.

The red dot is not a red ring but it does mean that there is either a hardware issue with your console or an issue with your console's hard drive.

Can you please put the hard drive in the console and go to the following: Settings > System > Storage > Take look in that folder to see if it lists the Hard Drive as Unformatted.

If it's unformatted, try to format it, if that works that should be alright. However, if this happens again or if the hard drive is not being detected at all, that can mean that it's either something with the hard drive or the console's port where the hard
drive plugs in.

For the hard drive, you may want to take it to a local game store (Gamestop, etc) and see if they can test out one of their hard drives in your console and see if it works. If it does, then you know it's a hard drive issue. If their hard drive doesn't work
either, then it's an issue with your console and it would require a repair.
