Hard Drive is now USB Storage Device (NEED MAJOR HELP RIGHT NOW)

Okay, so I bought a brand new Hard Drive for my Xbox 360, a 500GB one, that was unused by anyone else. Was trying to transfer stuff out of my old hard drive into it, so I inserted the device through the USB Transfer Cable. It looks like this:

    http://g02.a.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1CqbAJVXXXXbfXFXXq6xXFXXXD/Hot-1x-20CM-USB-font-b-Hard-b-font-font-b-Drive-b-font-HDD-hdd.jpg

So it asked me to format, I agree. It says "USB Storage Device" and I am thinking to myself "Okay, maybe it will only say this when it is connected through the USB."

So I transfer everything from my old hard drive into the bigger one. The transfer is complete, I turn off the system and disconnect the USB Storage Device.

Lastly, I insert the new Hard Drive and turn on the system. But wait, nothing is detected. NOTHING.

So, I turn off the system, take out the Hard Drive and think, "Maybe I just have to insert it well the system is on, like I did with the USB Transfer Cable."

I turn on the system, and then insert the Hard Drive. The system SHUTS OFF AND RESTARTS. I go back to my hub and, still, no "Hard Drive" detected.

I thought, "My Hard Drive must be broken. Maybe I shouldn't have inserted it well the system was on."

So, I turn the system off, take out the Hard Drive and insert it through the USB Transfer Cable again. Sure enough, it is read just fine now.

By this point, I'm thinking, "I definitely have to get a refund for this Hard Drive. It is no longer a Hard Drive." If it is not a Hard Drive, I can not play original Xbox games.

Last thing I did was transfer everything back to my old Hard Drive, format it again and see if that works. Little did I realize how dumb that was, given formatting it the first time that way already turned it into a USB Storage Device.

And now, I feel I could probably just keep it and use it as such, given I don't care too much about having more space. However, this means I have to buy ANOTHER Hard Drive if I want to play Xbox games. So, is there any way I can revert the Hard Drive back
to the state it was in before I first formatted, where it said it was neither a USB Storage Device or a Hard Drive? Because if it goes back to that state, maybe I can first insert it as a Hard Drive (before the USB Transfer Cable) and THEN do the transfer,
given it will be read as such, rather than being read as a USB Storage Device.

I need help really bad here. And I mean, really bad.

    :)

Hi, the problem is that you configured the hard drives as xbox USB storage devices, this will have removed information the console needs to distinguish an xbox hard drive from a USB hard drive. In essence this now means you can't use the hard drives as
    xbox hard drives again.

    Greetings Lethargic!

Could you configure your USB storage device on your console again. Turn off your console and remove the hard drive. Connect the USB device and install the latest software update. Now try use the USB storage device instead of your hard drive to see if the
    problem persists.

    Keep us posted!

Hard Drive is now USB Storage Device (NEED MAJOR HELP RIGHT NOW)

Never mind, I have come to the conclusion that I already *** up the Hard Drive myself after further research.

Apparently, I was not supposed to format it in the system using the USB Transfer Cable, as that formats it to FAT32, though had I inserted it into the Hard Drive slot first, it would have been formatted to FATX, a format that is only, well, supported on
the Xbox 360 and only formattable on such.

Time to refund my Hard Drive and try again, I guess.

    My profile is gone!!!!!

Can you try the following then: Get yourself an USB drive (no matter if USB thumbdrive or an USB hard drive). Just make sure there is no important data on it, as we'll let the console format the USB drive as a storage device.

Now turn off the console, and remove the harddrive, just like the link in my previous post explains.

Then plug in the USB drive, and start the console.

After the console started, go to the Settings hub on the far right, then to the System tile in the upper left, and then to the Storage options.

There allow the console to prepare the USB drive as a storage drive for the console.

After the storage has been created, try to download your Profile again to the USB drive.

    Does that work now?
