    Hard Drive downloading problems


    I just got a 500GB hard drive for my Xbox 360 slim, and I am trying to download my games on it, but it won't let me, but it will let me download my games on the memory unit that the slim comes with. Explanation: I press download on the games, and then
    it pulls up a hard drive selection screen, and when I choose my new hard drive, it just closes the screen and doesn't do anything, it doesn't say anything about errors.

    Do you have enough space on the drive you're using? Are you downloading to the internal hard drive or somewhere else?

    I'm able to download it without any problems on my console.

    You cant play any DLC!!

    If you have problems with a dlc,try clearing your system cache,delete your dlc from your hard drive and try downloading it again from your purchase history.

    Do you have an Xbox hard drive? If so, how much space do you have left. You can find out by going to System>Settings>Storage.

    I think its a Hard drive problem here, Not an Xbox problem. With the Hard drive unplugged and your 1GB flashdrive plugged in does it download the update?

    Hi there,

    personally I think the update didn't cause this problem, but that the hard drive is having possible hardware problems and it was just bad luck that it coincided with the download.

    -

    You could try re-attaching your hard drive to see if that helps:
    support.xbox.com/.../add-remove-hard-drive

    -

    If that fails you probably lost of the data on the hard drive.

    Profiles and all that you have download from xbox live can be redownloaded via the download history:

    support.xbox.com/.../download-content-history

    but any savegame that was only on the hard drive (so no backup in the cloud or a flash drive) is gone...

    If re-attaching doesn't help the only thing to do is to format the drive again, if this happens again it is definately the hard drive that is having hardware problems
