    Hard drive click of death?

So about a month ago I downloaded Elders Scroll online. About an hour into playing I hit a loading screen that takes for ever and thats when my Xbox one began to make a clicking sound from the right back corner. Ever since then while playing ESO and Destiny
it will crash on me during loading screens after about an hour of gameplay everyday. then if I restart the console I hit the green start up screen and that takes forever. I usually just end up turning it back off and waiting at least an hour, then it'll work
fine for an hour or two. I notice if I'm in a party or ppaying with friends on destiny it's more likely to crash then if I'm playing alone.

would getting an external hard drive and putting all my game on that help at all by reducing the stress on my xbox?

I'll try some other games tomorrow to see if crashes with them.

    :)

    Clicking sound in hard drive.

I wouldn't worry about it to be honest, it's up to you if you want to replace etc but it's nothing to worry about.

With the massive installs and game capturing going on all the hard drives will eventually start clicking.

    Clicking sound in hard drive.

I second the above. Daily I repair computers and a clicking Hdd is not a good sign. On its way to failure if it hasn't started to yet.

    Hard drive click of death?

If you are hearing a clicking noise coming from your internal hard drive. This click would sound like a hard metal on metal click I would suggest sending in your Xbox for repair. You can do that here:

    support.xbox.com/.../getting-your-product-serviced

If you are unsure of the clicking you can always try a factor reset and see if that corrects it, however if the sound you describe is what I think it is your HD may be on its way to crashing.

While moving your games to an external will keep them downloaded and off the internal once that internal drive crashes the external will be useless as the Xbox OS resides on the internal drive. Repair it as soon as possible.

It could be a bad hard drive too, the infamous "Click of Death".

Why did my Xbox One S beep and click

it was coming from the hard drive. i did an internet seach and the clicking noise was similar to the "hard drive click of death". A failing hard drive.

My cousin's xbox one S made the same clicking noise with no beep, the clicking in his xbox was coming from the fan

My Xbox One external drive is dead. Will I lose all the saved games data/progress?

As for the drive, it may well just have glitched out, with the format fixing it again.

A true sign of a failing external drive is a clicking sound 'hard drive click of death'. If it's still spinning and not clicking it may not need replacing.

Xbox 360 Slim 250gb Clicking Sound, Freezing/Lagging with some games?

During normal operation a hard drive should be nearly silent. Clicking sounds coming from any hard drive (click of death) is a very bad sign that means that hard drive failure is coming. Immediately copy your game saves to the cloud drive or move them to
a USB drive and don't use your hard drive for any game saves until you replace it. Your hard drive can fail at any time so the sooner you replace it the better.
