    Hard Drive Capacity

I'm sure this has been addressed in the past but, since I'm new to Xbox One, here it goes any ways. I just bought my Xbox One a couple of days ago and have it all set up. My system came with Halo Master Chief and the controller. According to the system specifications,
it is supposed to have a 500GB Hard Drive. However, after installing Halo and another game, I noticed that my HD has a capacity of 364.9GB with 300GB of space remaining.

Is this normal? Is all the pre-installed software (Skype, NetFlix, etc......) taking up that much space? I'm asking because when I bought my Xbox 360 (4GB) system, I added a 500GB HD to it, so I didn't come across this situation.

If any one can shed some light on this for me, I greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you

    :)

    Thank you.

Can I ask what hard drive capacity you have? Also, is it a 3rd party hard drive or an official Microsoft one?

    Many thanks,

    Hard Drive Capacity

Hi Jonker21, that will be about right.

This is because your Xbox One's 500 GB hard drive can only technically store only around 362GB of content.

This is because the Xbox One reserves the remaining space for its OS and other functions.

Still plenty room yet though for a good few more games.

The external USB drives are quite cheap now too if you ever get tight on space. Hard Drive Capacity )

You are correct. The "500GB" isn't actually accessible storage... that's the OS and so forth as well. It's lame, but unfortunately no one reading this forum can really do anything about it for us now. I guess if we complain enough, at some point they'll
consider being a bit more straightforward about storage capacity in the future? Who knows.

Yeah as stated above your 500gb is no where near 500gb & if your like me after a few months you will be having to remove games just to play new ones which is crazy because the next time you wanna play it again it'll take forever installing.

What you wanna do is what I done & get yourself an external hd i got mine plugged in the usb at the back of my xb1 & aslong as its usb 3.0 or faster & a minimum of 256gb your be golden.

I went for a 4tb hd & now have around 35games on my xb1 & have only used 15% with 3300gb free Hard Drive Capacity ;)

Need to Find Out Capacity of Xbox 360 HDD

The hard drive would be external and have the capacity written on it. If there is no drive it's 4Gb flash intended mostly

    for game saves.
