Hard drive and Component cables not working

Hi so I have an white xbox 360 with an 120gb hdd and HD component cables that I was sending to my friend to have and they was all working fine when I was testing the console out. But now when she received the following issues happen;

1. With the component cable it works fine when the display is set in 480 but as soon as its set to 720p or higher there is no display. The TV is HD, but also another issue is on the cable where you set it to either TV or HDTV, I only get a display when it
is set to TV (This is also the case with my component cable that I use for my own 360, but it still allows me to set the display to 720p or higher)

2. When the hard drive is attached to the system the console no longer boots up. If the hard drive isn't attached the console works fine and atm she is using an usb drive for storage.

Please can someone help with resolving these issues.

DVR Question

You need a dedicated external hard drive for it to work and it only works with OTA TV as long as you have the $60 component from Microsoft. If you already have an external hard drive you will have to but another one strictly for DVR...

Moveing saved data to a new xbox

That unformatted issue generally only happens with 3rd party hard drives and / or 3rd party transfer cables. That usually does not happen with official Xbox 360 components manufactured by Microsoft.

The saver route would be use the USB Flash Drive, but totally up to you .

Hi there,

If the hard drive causes the console not to work properly, something did cause the hard drive to malfunction. If disconnecting and reconnecting doesn't work then I'm afraid the hard drive needs to be repalced.

Regarding the TV setting, normally the HD TV setting on the cable should allow HD output, if that isn't working then it can either be the cable itself or perhaps the frequency setting on console that isn't compatible with the TV. Be sure to check the 50hz/60Hz
option to see which works.

A Systems only as fast as its slowest component.. if there's a issue, concerning speed, it's usually the hard drive or the cable if you're using an external hard drive..

Yes, you can use your Component cables. I have my Slim hooked up via VGA, the same cable I connected my old console. Only the hard drive's are different on the Slim, all other accessories and cables will work just fine. Enjoy!

what exactly do you mean? Do you mean HD video cable (Like HDMI or Component)? Or do you mean the Hard drive (HDD)?
