Saying that a game is cross platform to me is like saying you can play COD Black Ops 2 (or any other game) multiplayer wise between and Xbox console and a PC. Game devs however can choose to use Microsoft's servers or there own. What me and most of my friends
have an iffy about with the 360 version of Happy Wars is it takes soooo long to launch the game from the Dashboard. You click on the game, and it takes like a minute or two to "connecting to Xbox Live" to reach the Happy Wars main menu when your 360 is already....
connected to Xbox Live. You then get the option to play the game where you can travel 1 step per day it's open until the end of each month and you have to try and reach all the treasure chests. Sometimes I just skip it and say well I've done enough waiting
thanks. Even if a friend goes to the Xbox Guide Menu and sends you a Game Invite and you're not on Happy Wars, it's still gona take you a minute or two for the game to load and get you there.

  3. Cross platform chat should be possible.

It used to be possible to chat between GFWL and Xbox Live. Sure it was just a one to one private chat but it was a great ability to have.

Of course when they updated the 360 audio codec, they broke compatibility with GFWL and never bothered to update the PC side (since GFWL was dying at that point.)

So I don't think they can't enable chat between the 360 and the One. Rather I think it is that they wont enable chat between platforms, kind of another 'incentive' to move to the One and keep chatting with friends.

Then again you could.... argue that both Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 use XBOX LIVE. And that game devs can choose to use THEIR servers instead of M's. It seems a bit ??? if Microsoft has implied for Xbox that if you buy a game for 360 and 1, you can't play between
those platforms multiplayer wise and chat for various reasons. Microsoft has made Xbox Live like a closed network system for Xbox consoles. I'm kind of going off on a tangent here. Audio side is probably gona be a NO GO since 1 and 360 use completely different
hardware architecture including audio codec which reinforces why you can't party chat between 1 and 360 and why there's no voice messaging on 1.

  6. The Xbox 360 and PC used completely different hardware architecture too, yet chat and voice messaging was possible between them. Before the update of course.

From a technical standpoint there is no reason cross platform chat can't be done, Microsoft have some of the most talented programmers in the world after all.

Rather what is missing is the desire to do so.

@ multiplayer between Xbox 360 and Xbox One not supported

    -

I think they could change that, it's not supported, at the moment. but there are certain things we can transfer,

    -

Also, the Defiance team showed that it was possible to cross platform with Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, if they could do it with all three, I'm sure MS could do it with Xbox 360 and Xbox One,

So Microsoft is saying multiplayer between Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 is "not supported" (this is directly by Microsoft see the comment and links I made in above post it's actually the 1st time I used rich format on the xbox forums) yet Happy Wars developers say
    something about Cross Platform stuff.

Who is right... Microsoft or the game devs? I only joined Xbox in mid-late 2010 so didn't know about the update or that you could play between Xbox and PC. It is true that M are experts in the field of software and writing code. But it's also down to the
hardware constraints which Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 have.

  9. If I recall correctly, the only cross platform game between the PC and 360 was Shadowrun.

Then you had voice chat and messaging between the 360 and PC.

I think you are focusing a bit too much on the hardware here. As the 360 and PC showed, voice communication is possible between wildly different hardware architecture. If it weren't then I wouldn't be able to use the SKYPE app on my phone to call my significant
    other on her laptop.

  10. When it comes to chat and multiplayer, I'm sure either is possible, but not without a lot of work. I've seen both highly rated on the feedback site though as requested features, so it wouldn't surprise me if MS is working very hard on it to give their fans
    what they want.

In any case, for now, 1 thing I do know that may make it harder on the multiplayer end is that there are actually 2 Xbox Live services that are separated by console. The service you use on the One is not the same Xbox Live service you use on the 360 - they
are not 1 and the same except in name. They'll have to bridge this gap in order for cross-platform play to work. Thankfully, if Happy Wars is any indication, it seems to me like they're succeeding in this regard.

On the chat side of things, I think the easiest way to make both consoles compatible would be to change or upgrade the audio functionality on the Xbox 360 - but this may prove to be incredibly difficult or impossible due to the aforementioned hardware discrepancies.

  11. This isn't an issue of hardware, I wonder why people are so focused on that.

If this were an issue of hardware then how can people talk between SKYPE on their Xbox One and SKYPE on their phone.

No, it is one of software.

I already know that stats will carry over, Farscape, but if that's what they mean by cross-platform, then I think it's very misleading...

Maybe it will be 360 vs One gamers....

But true,it might be a big issue (and disapointment) for people who wants to play with their friends (cross platform)
