Halo Wars 2 Advert promising I will get early access to HW-DE, support rep says otherwise.

I preordered Halo Wars 2 with the hopes of gaining access to Halo Wars Definitive Edition to play before Halo Wars 2 was released. I did this because the advertisement said "Pre-order today and get early access to Halo Wars: Definitive Edition"

I didn't get a download for HWE and ended up contacting support. They told me to read the fine print in the product description and from there I'd see that it says I'll get a code in 7-10 days.

If this goes to the 10 days (many reviews are claiming that it's taking longer that that by up to 10 days), it would be the same day as the release of Halo Wars 2.

Frankly, I feel mislead by Microsoft and this promotion. If I'm expected to pay $90 for a game that I can't trade in or sell for money if I don't like (digital copy), at the very least I could get the game that was promised to me in your own advert (without
any sort of caution or asterisk making sure I read the fine print). This feels extremely misleading and like a bait-and-switch tactic. The support rep seemed eager and ready to refund me my money (or rather to cancel the pre-order), but I would much rather
feel valued as a long time Microsoft customer (a decade of paying for xbox live plus owning every console you've released) and not like bait and switch consumer to trick into purchasing something and not receiving what was promised until 7-10 days after for
an unexplained reason.

I told the rep I would give Microsoft the opportunity to make right a wrong before canceling. Please get back to me as soon as possible.

Missing Halo Wars Definitive Edition

I purchased the halo wars 2 ultimate edition pre paid code. My bundle downloaded everything except halo wars de. Am also wondering how to solve this issue?

I pre-ordered Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition on January 1st, and still have not received the code for HW DE.

As was mentioned, codes are sent out 7-10 days after the purchase date. This is the same across all pre-order promotions, sorry to hear about the confusion and frustrations. Unfortunately we aren't able to provide with the codes any earlier than that.

That's unfortunate. Bait and hook technique of marketing and sales just lost you a sale and likely more in the future, and your unwillingness to bend on a dumb policy that has no explanation as to why it even exists, especially to a customer of so many years,
demonstrates to me how much Microsoft cares about the individual customer.

Truly sad.
