Halo: The Master Chief Collection - Truth Be Told

I have been a member of XBox Live for the past 7 years and a gamer most of my life. Heck, call me old but I owned such systems as Tandy, Texas Instruments, Commandor, right up until the first Nintendo came out. I have taught two generations of gamers and
collected more than 100 XBox 360 games. One of the all time games for me has been the Halo series. Of all these games I have played over the years, I have seen my share of blunders and that is what we've seen here. Halo "was" a great series, until this collection.
Let's face facts, what has become more important for Microsoft is getting games out before the competition instead of customer satisfaction. My proof of this is right here.in a statement by Bonnie Ross (Head of 343 Industries): "The satisfaction and
joy of our fans is absolutely critical to everyone at 343 Industries and we regret the issues and the frustration you have endured. We are truly sorry and thank you for your continued patience and support of the Halo franchise."

As she makes this statement, her companies own site posted this statement:

""The sad news, if you haven't bought Halo: The Master Chief Collection before this date (19.12.14), you aren't entitled to any of the aforementioned content for free, and might not be entitled to it at all unless 343i decides to sell it."

Essentially, everyone else who purchased this game for a holiday gift or for themselves is out in the cold so to speak. This is because neither Microsoft nor 343 wishes to spend more than they have to on their muck up and customer satisfaction. IF satisfaction
and the joy of fans were critical, then everyone who purchased this game would be compensated, seeing as the service they paid for isn't working as it's designed to. This should bode to be a lesson to wait until the right time to release a game and not simply
to try beating the competition to the punch. You may find that with more satisfied customers, comes a better reputation and we all know where that leads.

Now, let's get down to some issues. We all know there are issues with the achievements. I myself played the game with my son. We obtained the skull on The Silent Cartographer without getting the Skulltaker Halo: CE: Famine achievement, even after trying it
several times.

Now, what would be identifying a problem without offering a solution as well. Unfortunately, I don't have a solution to this problem, but another. Sometimes when you access the terminals, the screen goes black without playing the cinematic. While in
the black screen reset your modem and router. Once they are done cycling, then try the terminal again. Sometimes it takes a few tries, but it does eventually work.

Just to point out: The reason those who didn't play the game in that time frame don't get ODST for free is because they didn't endure 5 weeks of non-functioning (for the most part) multiplayer and co-op. The game's unquestionably imperfect to this day, but
before their second-to-last update, many people simply could not play the game online. Regardless, I would fully expect ODST to de widely released as a paid DLC option for others, probably for $10-20. I expect that they'll do the same with Reach. If they didn't
intend to offer this as a paid add-on in the first place, then there wouldn't be any reason for them to just announce ODST as free DLC for all. I highly doubt that anyone willing to pay for the DLC will be without the option to obtain it, because it's pointless
to hold it back as free DLC otherwise.

It's not really possible to offer a solution to fixing the Achievements either, as it's simply a, "make it work" thing that we can't see the problem of, unless we were to get access to the actual code that makes the game. I'm missing several Achievements
myself, where they say, "100%" and "Unlocking" in the Achievements app, and while it sucks, I don't fret over it because I figure it'll either get done eventually, or I'll plain forget.

 

the achievement thing is crazy. i received the notice for each skull and terminal on halo 3 along with the notice for all skulls and terminals.

but in my achievement list it does show i have unlocked the all skulls and all terminals, however looking through the list i'm missing 2 or 3 skulls and terminals.

maybe they update at some point.

haven't played MCC in 2 days, yet i have had 13 achievements pop up for the skulls and terminals along with other random achievements over these 2 days...

moral of the story, just wait...
