Halo MCC snubbed?

The Halo MCC will continue to sell over the lifetime of the XB1, even after Halo 5 & 6 come out.

The game is very much worth it for Halo fans, such as myself. Especially for playing Halo 1 online with friends or Halo 2 campaign online co-op. Also Achievement hunters can have a ball with it.

 

Halo M.C.C. was going to be a day 1 purchase for me. First thing that turned me off was the 20Gb patch; after finding out that was for multi-player, I considered buying it shortly after launch. A combination of reports on saves being corrupted on the campaign
and being pestered about updates (Or going offline to play the campaign.), turned me off completely. The original Halo dethroned GoldenEye 007 as my favorite F.P.S. and it's a shame Microsoft *** up their flagship game to a point I, a few of my friends, and
others, felt a need to "snub it".

Same here. I'd never took any notice of the xbox until I tried halo on my sisters console one day, I was instantly sold. I don't think she got me off her xbox for six hours that day, the following day I went and sold my PS2 and bought myself the xbox.

 

The original "Halo" was never anything more than a "competant shooter" thrown to a Mass Market that had never played a well made game before.

It grew into something special though.

Not being able to get the game to work on release has hurt it though.

There are plenty of other great games on the ONE that work fine.

 

I played plenty of well made games before Halo one that springs to mind straight away is Half Life and plenty others on PC and other consoles at the time. Halo was an excellent game that persuaded me to buy a Xbox.

As for the MCC having no interest in the MP side of things I played through the first campaign with no issues and really enjoyed revisiting the CE campaign.

 

You could replay the single player fine.

The trouble is with multiplayer, cooperative and versus.

"HALO: MCC" rolled in with all the excitement and promise of "Street Fighter IV" and was forgotten almost as fast.

 

I don't think I would really look at the sales numbers on MCC as it being snubbed. As many have said before me there are a number of reasons why it wouldn't have the huge numbers other new releases might have.

Personally I bought it because I have never played the original Halo or Halo 2. I just hadn't jumped to Xbox at that point. So It was a good deal for me. Players looking for the MP might have refrained after word got out that it just wasn't working the way
everyone thought it would.

 

I am not at all interested in the Halo series, personally. However, nobody can deny that the series is loved by millions.

For Halo 5, I bet we'll see a spike in console sales leading up to and through the game's release. It still is the flagship game for xbox and like others have already stated, MCC is just a remake of things we've already seen.

 

For those that have never played the original Halo Combat Evolved campaign on the 8GB Xbox's. You're missing out. 343i versions are not the same. For example. The Bungie version had glitches that when exploited added something special to the gameplay.

I passed originally on the X1, and had high hopes of obtaining one when Halo MCC released. If - all the problems I was concerned with with the console was fixed by then. I already knew that 343i could not replicate the exploitable glitches in Halo CE and
that I could live with. But then on HaloWayPoint it was posted, and confirmed that Spartan Ops in Halo 4 would not be playable offline and that finished nailing the coffin shut for me.

Bro.

Spartan Ops IS playable offline. I tested it.

 

All the bad press re the online issues wouldn't have helped. I wouldve expected around 2.5mil if it launched flawlessly

 

How's that groundbreaking "Spartan" TV show going?

 

Nightfall was pretty good in my opinion, though not as good as Forward until Dawn but still worth watching.

 

I've only got it as it came in a console bundle, IM guessing a lot of others have gotten it this way. If anyone asked me about it now if tell them to avoid it unless they pay less a £5 for it. The whole game is a mess and should never had been released in
the state it was.

 

Maybe some were put off by the mandatory 15GB day-one update you had to download. Despite the game receiving over 3 additional Xbox Live Updates after that 15GB day-one Update (which is the biggest day-one update I've had to do in my life), multiplayer is
still broken. I've tried all the lobbies and matchmaking is still trying to find a game after 5 minutes. Forza 5 takes seconds to find matches. And Xbox 1 has over 300,000 Xbox Live servers worldwide. So abnormally long matchmaking marks it down. I have open
NAT and good networking so it's on Xbox's end since 343 studios is a subsidiary of Microsoft. Things that I will praise the game on, is that the graphics in Halo 2 campaign definitely look next gen, and the compilation of old Halo titles and not so old (Halo
4).

Halo IS big on Xbox. But there is a whole wide of circumstances why units sold may not be making world headlines. However, the week Halo MCC came out, at least 5 of my friends on Xbox 360 purchased an Xbox 1 console and got the game. So Halo still has SPIRIT
in it
