    Halo MCC on Win10 PC has no sound


    Hi

    When launching Halo MCC via Xbox Beta app or via the Microsoft store, I have sound when you first see the developer logo's - where it shows Xbox game studios and 343 industries, I have sound here no issues. But once that disappears & the main home screen
    comes up where you hit Enter to get to the main menu, sounds cuts out, there is no sound at all.

    I've gone in to the game sound settings, all is on 100

    Doesn't matter if I am in Reach campaign, Halo CE campaign

    Matchmaking or Firefight, there is no sound coming out of this game to my speakers. Also tried headset, still nothing

    I reboot my PC, did not resolve

    I checked for Windows updates, no new updates

    I thought maybe check game bar settings to see if sound was on for MCC while it was playing, I then found hitting win+G does not bring up the Game bar. I run a repair on game bar, did not resolve

    I reset game bar, did not resolve. I tried to uninstall but found the uninstall is grayed out for me. I found via Google search a powershell command that uninstalls the game bar. I run the command and Game bar uninstalled. I re-installed it via Microsoft
    Store, rebooted my PC. Launched MCC and hit win+G, game bar opened and when checking sound settings, MCC had sound volume up and sound was on - back to square one

    I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling, that didn't work. Pretty much out of ideas now

    I have a number of games in the Xbox beta app and Microsoft store that launched and sound works fine so it seems this no sound issues is only affecting Halo MCC

    I think this problem first started after the launch of Halo: CE Anniversary. I was part of the Halo insider testing group of Halo: CE Anniversary. I had sound no issues during the testing but I think after the game finally launched mid last week, I was updating
    MCC which I believe was obviously the Halo: CE Anniversary full game install, I believe after this the no sound issue came about

    I would greatly appreciate some assistance with this.

    I have wireless earphones and the following worked for me even past the main menu. On your computer open Control Panel > Sound > Manage Audio Devices > At the top there are several tabs. Click on Playback >
    There is a list of sound options. Scroll through and you should find two sound options for your headphones. Using my computer as an example, I have JVC Hands-Free Audio and JVC Stereo, do two things.

    1. Disable the Hands-Free Audio by right clicking on it and selecting Disable.
    2. Set the Stereo as default by clicking on it, so it's highlighted, and then select Set Default at the bottom of the box.
    Hope this helps until a broader fix is available.

    I downloaded EarTrumpet & that seems to have resolved my issue!!

    Not sure how, why or what was the cause of this no sound issue but EarTrumpet has fixed it.

    I would go through your Windows settings to the legacy sound settings. You can easily get to it by searching in the start bar "Change system sounds" and then clicking the playback tab. From there, it should list all of your speakers. Go through them and
    right click on each and select "Test". You can compare what is set to default and what is actually playing out or not, and if the monitor (green bars) show when the test is being conducted. That should help identify if the proper device is set as your output
    and if not, you can right click and set as default.

    I might also recommend looking into
    EarTrumpet from the Windows 10 store.     I have used it and find it a great sound management tool for Windows.
