1. Are you using the same Microsoft Soft Account with Microsoft store, Xbox apps/Xbox game bar?
   
2. May we know what Windows OS version (11/10) are you using?
   
3. Are you using Scuf controller or Xbox controller?
   
4. Have you tried this to other PC?
   
5. Is this only game you are having issue with? How about other game titles?

Well...nothing good unfortunately. I went through the Steam settings and cleared everything and then removed all the files that were indicated in the Window's Credential file...Help.....

Also did the following with no luck:

Follow this path, and don't worry if the folder has different characters.
C:\Users\[your profile]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_cw5n1h2txyewy\AC\TokenBroker

Delete the Accounts and Cache folders, restart your PC and try again.

The strange thing is with no changes on my end the issue stopped for a while before resuming yesterday. Unfortunately deleting Accounts and Cache made no difference. Same story as before upon loading up the game, and still the only work around is to simply close the sign in prompt rather than confirming.

These steps can help you, give it a try.
Check for updates on Windows Update, update everything including optional/additional updates.
1. Look for the Xbox app and Microsoft Store app in the Windows menu, right-click, click app settings and then click terminate, restore and reset. Do this with the game too.
2. Clear the store cache type ''wsreset'' in the Windows bar, run as admin, and wait for the screen to close and open the store automatically.
3. Open the Microsoft Store app, library>get updates and update everything.
4. Press the Windows Button then type Services.
Right-click over the Services App from the list of results.
Then select Run as Administrator
Scroll to the bottom and find the following services:
IP Helper
Xbox Live Auth Manager,
Xbox Live Game Save,
Xbox Live Networking Service,
Gaming Services.
Do this with each of the services listed above.
Right-click over the service and select Properties.
Find the Startup type section and make sure it’s set to Automatic.
If the service isn’t started, click Start to start the services.

Click Apply and OK to save changes.

5. Restart your PC and see if that solves the problem.

Many thanks for responding. The game was purchased through the Microsoft store but I also have the Game Pass Ultimate which is where I downloaded the app from. I don't run anything from my Xbox App through Steam. But I've noticed that Steam has a way of reaching into files and settings. That said, this is happening with multiple Xbox controllers including a Scuf controller as well. I will try the steps you listed from Halo Waypoint. Hopefully I will have some kind of luck. I'll update you on this thread shortly.
