HAlo Infinite not saving progress

I have finished halo infinite in normal & heroic difficulty. No issues. And now i'm playing in legendary difficulty. I have a windows 10 machine with xbox app and i'm a xbox pc game pass subscriber. And something has gone wrong with halo infinite game saves!

The last time halo infinite successfully saved the game was during the campaign around 2 weeks back (near the tower, legendary difficulty). And now, everytime i load the game, it goes back exactly at the same point again and again (Tower).

Even when i play the game for quite a while and it actually says saving checkpoint and saving progress, etc. I don't think it actually saves. Cos' if i get killed, it again goes back to the exact same point. Meaning the progress isn't saved.

If i completely Exit the game after playing for quite a while (say an hour), it says saving checkpoint and saving progress as usual. But after i exit the game and launch the game again, it once again takes me back to the exact same point as before. Meaning the progress isn't saved actually.

I tried formatting the drive, reinstalled windows (Windows 11 this time around), drivers, xbox app, etc. And finally installed halo infinite. Took a lot of time, but there was no other way. But the exact same problem still exists!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The progress is not getting saved. I just dunno what to do. Looks like my microsoft xbox game save cloud account is the culprit.

How do i fix it?

Thank you, it seems that right now the best option is delete the cloud save and start a new campaign :c (this is going to delete the progress, your achievements remain)

If you want to proceed, try this (is not for Halo infinite this specific tutorial, but I think that it works)

"Make sure your PC Offline Permissions is set to ON

Open the Microsoft store.

Click on your profile image and then click settings.

Make sure your Offline Permissions is set to ON

Start the game, wait for the start screen.

Disconnect your PC from the internet.

Go to your Windows 10 Settings --> Storage --> Apps & games --> Halo infinite -->Advanced Options -->Select the "Reset" button.

Start playing for a few minutes to create a new local save

Connect back to the internet.

If you are prompted to pick a save, you only need to select "LOCAL" for this time. Moving forward, you will want to select "Cloud.""

Hi, I already read your whole post.
But you didn't answer my two questions.

When you exit the game, do you mean go back to the title screen? Or fully close the game?

Once i reach a checkpoint, it says "Saving Checkpoint". And if i keep on playing, it even says "Saving progress" as usual after a while.

But when i exit the game and restart after a while, it always goes to the same old place again. Every single time!

I've even completely formatted my hard disks, reinstalled my operating system, device drivers, xbox app, etc. A very lengthy process. A 100% complete system reset. And then installed a fresh copy on halo infinite. Again a time consuming process.

It syncs with the cloud while starting as usual. But then the problem still exists. Takes me back to the same point again and again. I've even given it hours to sync, but the problem doesn't go away.

The system works perfectly & i didn't install any non-microsoft software just to be safe. Something's wrong with cloud sync for save games. How to fix? Pls help.

Thank you, could be as you said a corrupted cloud save data.

Before concluding that please try this:

A. Can be a bit odd but disable IPv6 in your adapter properties

Open the Control Panel in Windows.

After opening the control panel, set the “View by” on the top-right corner to “Large icons“.

Click on the “Network and Sharing Center” option.

Here, click on the “Change adapter settings” link on the left panel.

Now, right-click on the active network adapter and select “Properties“.

Go to the “Networking” tab.

Here, uncheck the “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” option.

Click on the “Ok” button to save changes.

Then close all the windows, restart your PC and try again

B. Try using a custom DNS address, use both Google and Cloudflare DNS

C. Sign in with a different account on the Xbox app , try playing Halo infinite in legendary until you reach a checkpoint, go back to the main menu (or close the game) and verify if you're able to continue where you left it

Hi, yes... Exists the possibility that could be a bug / error with your cloud save.

Just to confirm, when you started the new campaign with the other account. Did you selected legendary difficulty as well?
