Halo Infinite multiplayer

I saw Halo Infinite multiplayer will be free to play but no further context was given. Does this mean I don’t have to buy the campaign game disc( I only play multiplayer when I get a game, so any campaign is wasted on me) or does it mean I have to buy the game but people won’t be required to have a Xbox Live Gold account? Thanks for the clarification. I looked for links to clear up what they mean but didn’t see any, so I appreciate if you had some valid links to verify claims. I’d really appreciate no sarcastic comments. Thanks for your help.

only halo infinite multiplayer is free to play, the campaign is not.

Apologies for the frustration but halo infinite doesn’t offer split screen multiplayer.

There is no doubt that Halo Infinite will be a lot better that Halo 5 in many aspects not just campaign but also the multiplayer gameplay.
