Halo Infinite - Can't type @ when signing in (QWERTZ and AZERTY layout)

Hi,

I contacted 343 with this bug report back in November but they swiftly replied that I should contact Microsoft support. Still, they investigated and last month asked if the issue was still there which is was. I don't recall having an issue on other games with this login. Here is a copy of the follow up email I sent last month that recaps the issue :

Thank you for the follow up. Yes, the issue is still present.

It is still impossible login-in to the account by using an email as the "@" symbol on a French and Swiss keyboard requires us to press the Alt Gr key. "Alt Gr + 2" ( Swiss keyboard ) or "Alt Gr + 0" ( French keyboard ).

The only work around is to copy / paste the email from another place.

Other games using Microsoft login API such as Grounded don't have this issue which is why I believe this to be a problem with it's integration in Halo.

If you believe this to be a problem on Microsoft's side, could you please escalate it to them as the procedure on their website is quite obscure and not very user friendly ?

On a side note. I don't own the game Grounded. I only tried it during the free week-end on Steam so I have no was to verify that the login process works as I remembered.

I found a question similar to this one here in the support but the answer that was marked as resolved stated that the game was still in beta as the probable reason for this issue. The Game is no longer in it's beta phase and this issue persists yet there is no way to re-open that previous question.

Yes indeed like most PC players I would assume.
I take the opportunity of this reply to add that the 3 friends I played with had this same exact issue as well using French keyboard layouts.

Apologies for the wait.

The working theory is that this may be an issue on the Steam-side of things, as the log-in window that you're using is the same one that is used elsewhere, and as you've mentioned, this is something that in other places has not presented a problem. We understand that the log-in from Steam is wrapped in the Steam UI and is not a direct window in a web-browser. This leads us to believe that the problem lies there instead.

There's not much for us to add, but if for some reason that turns out to not be the case, definitely come back and let us know in a new thread.

Hello there, wanted to let you know that I'm working on understanding what's going on here. From what you wrote, it sounds like you're having trouble logging in when playing Halo Infinite through Steam. Can you confirm or correct my understanding, please?

Please verify if your keyboard distribution is the correct. For example, QWERTY, AZERTY, etc.

So, you may need to change the layout and the distribution as well in order to get the correct one.
