    Halo 5 online: fine on Xbox One, intermittent error on Xbox Series X


    Hello,

    I currently have both Xbox One and Xbox Series X -- same setups.

    On the Xbox One, all online matchmaking/games work just fine, including Halo 5.

    On the Xbox Series X, all game work fine *except* for Halo 5, which returns a "dedicated server" error intermittently. That is, I can be playing the game fine, then shut off console and come back later and it will not work. In this case, other online games
    still work fine. And, if I switch back to the Xbox One, it will work fine too.

    Can anyone suggest what might be causing this intermittent Halo 5 error on the Series X?

    My friend has gta online on Xbox series X and I have the full game on Xbox one, but we can’t play online together… does he need to buy the full game?

    It's important to know which game your friend bought.

    I say this because there are currently three versions of the Series X/S game. Gta 5 Online, Gta 5 Series X/S and Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S).

    If he has purchased Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S), which gives access to the game for Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X, he can play online with you as long as he downloads the Xbox One version, so you and he will have the same save and can play online.

    If he is a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber he can download the game in the Xbox One version and play with you.

    Ok I have both versions of GTA downloaded on my series x the Xbox one version works fine on the series x I then downloaded the series s/x version on the series x I then launched the game and it gives the error message

    gta online for series x is different to the gta 5 online for xbox one that it originally came out on. there is an updated version on series console for online only, not sure if you need to purchase this version.

    I am considering purchasing the new Series X. Before I do I want to know if it is compatible with other Xbox’s when playing Gta 5 Online.

    For example, my cousin plays on the Xbox one s and my brother plays on the original Xbox one. Will I be able to play online with them?
    Short answer, Yes.

    Xbox One,

    Xbox One S,

    Xbox One X,

    Xbox Series S,

    Xbox Series X,

    They will all be able to play the same games online together, no matter who's on which of these consoles.
