Halo 5 Master Chief Controller Issues

Hi,

I am having issues with my Halo Master Chief Controller that I purchased in October. It came with AA batteries included so I used these until they ran out of power then I swapped my rechargeable battery from my original black wireless controller over to
my new Halo controller. At first everything seemed OK until it said it needed charging up. Now every time I charge the battery in the controller it will say fully charged but sometimes doesn't last 30 mins after starting to use it and constantly says batteries
low. I put the battery back in my old original controller and it says it is fully charged and works fine. If any body has any ideas on how to help with this it would be appreciated.

Nope.

My Day 1 controller served me well up until recently when I decided to get the Halo 5 Master Chief controller. No issues to report.

Probable answer: Except for Official Licenced recharge kits, Microsoft newest products are likely programmed to not like standard off the shelf rechargable batteries.

Have you any way of conducting a drain test on the batteries? Or, possibly put in a New set of rechargables and see if that works. If it does then your old batteries are getting weak (Drain fast) even when fully charged.

Other than that. I haven't a clue!

 

What happens if you put a new set of AA batteries in the controller? Does it do the same thing as with the recharageables ?

Thanks for replies, probably my fault for not making it clear but I am using the official Microsoft play and charge wireless controller battery.

Have you tried regular AA batteries in the controller? Also where the batteries install, make sure those silver tabs where each end of the battery sit are making a good solid contact.

 

I have the Halo 5 silver and blue controller with the Official XBOX plug and charge kit and I have the same issue. Not all the time but it will be unplugged and I will get an alert that the battery is low, then when I look about 5 min later it shows fully
charged and they seem to have the same battery life as they should.

Not sure why the issue but it seems to be with any rechargeable batteries official or not.

I have had similar issues with my Master Chief Controller. In the space of a month I have gone through multiple good quality AA batteries. None of my other controllers have this issue. Maybe contact xbox support and ask for them to replace or refund. If
you are in the UK this should fall under statutory rights of not fit for purpose if it's not under warranty.

I have the same controller but have no issues, I use energizer rechargeable batteries. The official rechargeable packs are rubbish tbh, I got through a few on the 360 and the X1 version only lasted about a month before it would no longer charge.

 

Electro once again way off the mark with your probable answer. Been using Duracell rechargeables since launch in my controller and one set usually lasts over a week, with the controller being used daily.

 

Hey guys thanks for the replies. I know it's not the play and charge kit that's faulty as I have had it back in my original controller for a couple weeks now and it's worked fine. I bought the Halo controller through Amazon UK but they won't let me return
it as its over 30 days old. Would you guys recommend I do a warranty return through Xbox UK?

Have you tried using it again with normal batteries? If it works fine with them I would just buy two sets of rechargeables and wall charger and crack on. Obviously if it doesn't work fine with them it will have to go back.

 

What reason did you give to amazon for returning it? If its faulty you have more than 30 days in the UK. You want to return it to the retailer if you can, its quicker and cheaper.

 

I work in retail so I know my rights with return but if you've knowledge of Amazon you will know that they are a law to themselves!
