Halo 5 Limited Edition Console game

My friend owns the Halo 5 limited edition console, and he says it came with Halo 5 preinstalled (he did not have to redeem a token or anything). He played Halo 5 a lot in the past. Recently I tried opening the Halo 5 game on the same Xbox, while logged in with the same account he always uses and used when playing the game in the past. There was a permissions error about "Do you own this game?" Nothing seemed to work. The storage menu would alternately show the presence of the game and the absence of the game. Sometimes the Xbox would say it was installed, other times it would say it was not. But even during the times it would show, the permissions error would still show. I eventually uninstalled the game with the intent to reinstall it, but now we don't know how to get the game back.

Legally speaking, we should be able to show Microsoft the serial number of the console to prove we have a Halo 5 console and are eligible to play the game.

But how should we proceed?

Well, Halo 4 didn't have a Legendary Edition, so i don't know if Halo 5: Guardians would get back into that groove. My guess is that they'll have an 80-100$ Limited Edition, with some cool doo-dads, and also release a Halo 5: Guardians Edition Console with
a Standard Edition of the game included with the console.

I think nearer to the release of Halo MCC, Microsoft might announce a limited edition console. However for Halo 5 it's a defo 100%!

Thanks for reaching out to the forums! The Halo 5 LE console did not come with the Halo 5 game pre-installed, there was a digital download card for the game located within the packaging. If your friend was the original owner of the console and utilized the digital code then the game will be synced with their Xbox account, and you should be able to retrieve the game again by heading to My games & apps>Full Library>All owned games on the console. If by chance they are not the original owner and did not have the digital code, please keep in mind that Halo 5 is a part of the Xbox Game Pass library available on both console and cloud gaming.

I have a Halo 5 Limited Edition Xbox One... It was before S came out... I game On My Xbox One X but the Halo 5 Edition is 1Tb and has special colors

The Halo 4 console did not come with the limited edition game that came with the Season pass. The console came with the standard edition.
