Halo 5 licensing problem

For Christmas we bought two Halo 5 Xbox bundles, one for myself and one for my siblings. I offered to set up their xbox and to download the game prior to creating their xbox live accounts. Later that evening I put the other code into my own xbox and downloaded
my copy of the game. Later, I found out that they are unable to play the game without my profile information on their xbox. Even though they have the game downloaded. I sincerely don't feel like spending another sixty dollars on a third game when we already
own two copies of the game. Can we find a way to transfer the licensing to one of their accounts so that I don't need to buy another copy of the game I already own two of?

Hi there!

To be sure you own that content on your account if you check your
purchases do you see that order for Halo 5?

If you do not this means your current account did not make the purchase and perhaps it was from a Home console share or a disc copy.

Either way you would need to repurchase the game for this account or see about Home sharing with the owner once more.

On the initial install onto your siblings Xbox, did you redeem the code on your account?

You can try going to their Xbox and make it your Home Xbox, so anything downloaded by you will be playable on their console.

 

I did redeem the code on my account, as there was no warning that doing so would make it "my" game (on the 360 anyone could play the downloaded games regardless of "ownership") and because their accounts had not yet been set up. As for making the Xbox my
home Xbox, I have my own Xbox that I also used my account to download Halo 5 (on the same afternoon) and I have that Xbox set as my home Xbox. And since only one console can be the "home" console, that won't work.

 

You may want to try using the codes again on their accounts. If you redeemed the code on your account the first time, it shouldn't have redeemed a second time. Otherwise, you would need to contact support to see if there is anything they can do. It's not

Other than that, setting their console as your Home console would be the only way for them to be able to play the game without your account being signed in.

 

If you set the second Xbox as your home Xbox and on their account set your Xbox as their home Xbox then anything purchased by one person will work on both Xboxes.

I have this set up in my home...

My Xbox (Nr1) is in the living room.

My sons Xbox (Nr2) is in his room.

On my sons Xbox (Nr2) that is set to my home Xbox - anything I buy on my account automatically downloads to Nr2 and is playable by my son.

On my Xbox (Nr1) - my son has made that his home Xbox - so anything he buys is downloaded to my Xbox and is also playable by me.
