Halo 5 Disc Swap process is not as easy as it sounds.. Microsoft, take note.

Ok, so I finally got through the process of exchanging my code for a disc, and it took almost an hour.

the official site states this:

As long as your code isn't used then you can use the swap code to disc process. and provide your Gamertag, Email address, the Game code and your mailing address. and a disc will be sent out to you in 3-5 business days.

well, that sounds great, but that's not all you need and shipping is far longer.

You need to also provide a photo of the receipt, your consoles serial number and then wait 10 business days.

I don't mind the extra steps had I been aware of them, and giving false shipping days on your official site is wrong. had they stated you needed the extra information as well as updating the shipping times to 5-10 business days.. then ok.. but as it stands,
the official site is giving false information and incorrect steps.

Halo 5 collectors edition disc swap doesn't work

That is odd indeed. According to the support page a console serial number is not one of the requirements for doing the swap.

I would try contacting them again and point out the support page does not list that as a requirement.

The support page on this matter only states the Limited Collector’s Edition of Halo 5: Guardians, but since you do have to contact official support for it you can always ask them if the code from the console is valid for this exchange as well. Just be aware
that you will only get the disc, you won't get it in a case because the case itself is supplied in the Limited Collector’s Edition of Halo 5: Guardians.

I'm not sure where you are getting your information about the false shipping times and extra information.

All you need to do is contact Xbox Support and they will be able to swap your unused code for a physical copy.

The process is a nightmare especially if you bought the game as a gift and don't have an xbox serial number (which you should NOT need anyway).

2 hours so far with Microsoft support and no resolution. Basically refusing to swap unless YOU own the xbox it is used for. Don't own one? Don't get no disc. Interesting they fail to tell you that when you buy or on the swap page.

 

I'm not sure what kind of people you're getting on support, but they don't need a proof of purchase. If you get an agent that's telling you that, they're trying to make it more difficult and avoid doing anything for you.

All you need to do is make sure you have an Xbox One registered to your account, your unused code, and that's basically it. As long as you have those, agent tools willing, you will be able to do that swap flawlessly.

 

You aren't reading and comprehending. You need to provide an Xbox serial number. If you bought this as a gift and YOU don't have an Xbox one you CANNOT swap for discs. This is not a stated requirement nor should it be. They also do not tell you
this until AFTER you have provided the product code which means you've now made the product nonreturnable.

 

It's a stated requirement to have a shipping address to send the disc to. In order to send that disc, they have to set up an order. They can only set up orders if there is a console registered. If you bought it as a gift, then it should be up to that person
who is receiving the gift if they want the disc or digital version. And if they do, then you can be there to help set it up, but ultimately, you need to have an account with a registered console when you sign in. Also, when you give the product code, that
is not what makes it non-returnable. They deactivate the code for use when the trade is done, so if they did that before you had an account with a registered console, then it's the agent's fault for not ensuring you have an account with a registered console
to do the swap.

You're wasting your breath being rude and complaining about things that really don't even matter. I'm sorry that you think you had such a terrible experience, but it makes sense to have a console at least around to contact support. If you bought it as a
gift, then kudos for you for wanting to just take care of it, but it just makes sense to make sure you have some kind of access to a console to do something like that.
