Halo 3 # of games played not increasing

Hi. I signed up for xbox live (with a new account) about a month ago for the first time in ~10 years to play Halo 3 again. About 2 weeks into online gameplay I noticed my number of games played (in all game categories), rank (in all game categories), and
service record stopped increasing no matter how many games I played. To try to rectify this issue, I deleted all content, profiles, etc., on my console, power-cycled and then re-downloaded my profile to try to rule out syncing issues. No luck. I proceeded
to play anyway for the next 2 weeks. Fast forward to now and I have become more agitated that my stats are not updating. To try to solve this issue in a different manner, I registered a new account, reset console to factory defaults and downloaded this new
profile. Loaded up Halo 3. Played a few games. Number of games played, rank, and service record do not update at all....

What is going on here?

ok thanks for clearing that up. Thats why I put at the end of the Reach stats that I wasnt sure how many games I played. I knew 3,279 didnt sound right because I havent played Reach anywhere near the amount of time I played Halo 2 and Halo 3.

I am hoping the Halo 4 gameplay will be as fun as the Halo 3 gameplay. I loved Halo 3 so much. Quite possibly one of the best games I played on the 360. Such a great co-op campaign, really good multiplayer, and the trueskill matchmaking worked very well
in Halo 3. There are some great new feature in Reach so hopefully 343 can take all the great features from Halo 3 and Reach to make the ultimate Halo game. The trueskill system is very important to me so if it works as good as Halo 2 or Halo 3 then I will
be very happy.

I have high hopes for Halo 4 in that it'll be returning to Halo 2/3 game mechanics, as in no armor abilities, no massive reticule bloom and no game quit limits, or if it's there it better be increased. If it's anything like Reach (judging by gameplay videos
doesn't look like it) I'm not going to waste my money. Reach was by far the worst Halo game I've ever played.

This isn't totally true.

Halo 3 for example i started terribly low, and then the general trend has always been positive. Even now, having played over 3000 matches, if i was to play Halo 3, i would continue to increase my k/d. In fact i'm pretty sure i was to continually play big
team in Halo 3 my k/d would even go past 2.0 ( which is fair long way from what it is) because i can average well above 2.0k/d.

Even Halo: Reach, having played a reasonable number of games i'm pretty sure my k/d less than 2. And then since increased. Even last summer, when i played Reach again for the first time since 2 weeks after release, i managed to raise my k/d. I'm sure i could
actually maintain/increase the current k/d if i stuck to preferred game modes.

The only catch with installing Halo 3 is that it increases the load times of that game, thus Bungie does not recommend it. Same with the second disc for
Halo 3: ODST.
