Halo CE and Halo 2 the campaign is 2 player co op and 4 player multiplayer. Halo 3 and Halo 4 I believe are 4 player co op campaign and multiplayer.

Previous Halo games have had lagg problems in co-op, whether it be campaign or the other co-op modes. I noticed in Anniversary, ODST, Reach and Halo 3. Given that Halo 4 is built on the same engine (although modified) as previous titles, I suspect 343
just didn't fix the issue.
