Half of my elite controllers buttons stopped working at the same time, is there a fix?

My Xbox elite controller 2 suddenly stopped working yesterday whilst playing a game as I usually would. Suddenly most of the buttons on the controller became unresponsive all at once, except from the joysticks triggers and home button (which was no longer backlit). I have tried power cycling the controller which only make the controller turn off and then instantly turn back on when I release my finger off the home button. I have tired powercycling my Xbox to no avail. I also updated the software which did nothing. The controller also only turns on if it is connected to the Xbox via usb, I have tried many things to fix this issue and considering how expensive they are and the fact I’ve only had it for just over a year I wouldn’t expect this kind of thing to happen. If someone knows a fix I’d greatly appreciate it.

It would be worth it to check if it still has a warranty. Otherwise you could see if your local gaming store offers a repair service.

Thank you for the response, I have tripled checked and tried everything I can think of and that the links show. Repair wise it’s probably more worth it do buy a new one which I’m not going to consider as they barely last a year.

Hello TAXIDUKE, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

Please check through this link https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-ne... to see if any of the steps help you. I had a similar issue on Friday and it turned out there was an update for the controller. The update did take slightly longer than it normally would so it may be a good idea to double check again.

However, if nothing there works then the controller may need to be repaired. You can read how to set that up on the support link I posted. If you decide to go this route and set up the repair be sure that you only send the controller and nothing else as Xbox does not guarantee that extra items such as cables or thumbsticks will be returned.

I'm having the same issue. My elite 2 works fine even in the game pass app, I can use the thumb sticks to select a game, but when the game starts the thumb sticks and dpad stop working...

Other controllers work, just not the elite 2. It's not very elite it seems. Would love a fix for this!

The super glue thing didn't work, grips kept peeling. Bought the Scuff replacement panels and a week later the right bumper button stops working. Really wanted to like the elite, but went and bought a Patrol Tech controller. Not wasting anymore time and
money on this so called elite controller.
