Had to create new app password for 360?

Can you clarify what you mean by a new app password? Were you asked to reset your account password?

The whole "app password" is the way that two-factor works for the 360; you have to go into your microsoft account and generate an app password if you have two-factor enabled and use a xbox 360.

I wasn't prompted to reset my actual password, but i did have to generate a newer app password after its been over 3-6 months since i made and used the first one.

Here is what I ended up having to do to resolve my issue after 4 hours of step by step instruction following. Short answer is you have to create an app password for the Xbox 360.

Easy to do here:

Login to your Microsoft account from a laptop or desktop computer, or

Microsoft Authentication App.

For laptop

1. Sign-in to your Microsoft Account.

2. Click on the Security tab at the top of the screen.

3. Click the Advanced Security Options (Get Started).

4. Scroll down to APP PASSWORDS and click "Create a new app password." This will create a random password each time you click create another app password.

5. On your Xbox 360, when you sign-in to your Xbox Live account and it asks for the Microsoft email and password, use this new App password instead of the password you normally login with on your laptop.



For Microsoft Authentication App (Easier way)

1. Open the Authentication app on your phone or tablet.

2. Click your Microsoft tab.

3. Click Update Security Info.

4. Scroll down to APP PASSWORDS and click "Create a new app password." This will create a random password each time you click create another app password.

5. On your Xbox 360, when you sign-in to your Xbox Live account and it asks for the Microsoft email and password, use this new App password instead of the password you normally login with on your laptop.

This is by far the easiest way I found to resolve this issue after 4 hours of trial and error. And as soon as I entered the app password onto the 360, my profile downloaded instantly and everything was as it was.

To play Xbox 360 games, you need to create an app password. To do this follow these instructions.

1. Log in on account.microsoft.com on your PC.

2. Select Security on the left side of the page.

3. Under advanced security settings, select get started

4. Scroll down the page until you get to App Passwords, select create a new app password.

5. Type the password that is created in the password box on your game.

The password should be accepted, and you should be then logged in.
