Had Drifting Analog Stick Problem, Contacted Support, Told Me to Buy a New Controller

    Dear Microsoft,

I had a horrible experience with Microsoft's support team yesterday.

I called in last night to get my controller sent in for repair due to the left analog stick drifting upwards. I would like to note that I made all this very clear, let him know everything on my system was up to date, and that this was definitely a hardware
issue. Within minutes his computer crashes which leads to him sitting silently on the phone with me for 5 minutes while it reboots. After that, he proceeds to ask me to make sure all my software is up to date on my Xbox and my controller to which I kindly
replied that yes it was and that it was (again) a hardware issue that was known to Microsoft and many users. He proceeded to put me through every hoop anyways just to make sure. So I play along, assuming that this is probably something he has to do by protocol.
After about 30 minutes of him not knowing where to find the correct serial number on my controller ( I had tried to do this all online, but none of the numbers worked), trying to figure out where it was online, reading through some jargon unknown to myself,
and then he finally gives me my solution. He prefaces with "Well it looks like it says here that you can get a replacement and you don't even have to turn in the faulty model." At this point I am feeling strangely optimistic, but not for long. He then continues
to tell me, with a cheery attitude as if this was good news "...you don't even have to turn in the faulty model. We can send you a new controller for just $60 dollars plus shipping and handling." At this point I am utterly baffled that this person, this useless
person, made me wait on the phone with him for 45 minutes to tell me that my controller only had a 3 month warranty.... and then proceeds to ask me what I wanted to do. It took all my self control not to flip out on this person, but I instead calmly confirmed
that he had made me wait on the phone for 45 minutes to just tell me that my warranty had expired and I needed to buy a new controller all together.

This is just sad. I have to pay for a new controller because of a well known manufacturing defect? I had a measly 3 month warranty on my controller. That's honestly a spit in my face, Microsoft. I have been a loyal customer since the original Xbox came out.
Never bought a single Sony product in all that time and this is how you repay me? I'm not surprised your sales are tanking. I thought your company would have learned from the blunders with the Xbox 360 that I, and many others, endured. I will never forget
the day my Xbox 360 got the red ring of death and when I called in, guess what, my warranty had expired. You make your customer pay for your manufacturing issues and it's appalling. I hope you know that this way of treating customers isn't going to keep people
loyal to your company. I know that if I don't see some sort of resolution to this problem I will be either selling my Xbox One and getting a PS4 or I will be jumping ship once the next generation of consoles arrives.

    Sincerely,

    A *** off customer

    :)

I can agree to this. I am in the preview program, updated my controller and now it won't turn on. Contacted support and was told that there was nothing they could do and to go buy another controller. Keep in mind this controller in question was a controller
they sent to me as a replacement, I received it, took it out the box, updated it...now its dead. Just go PS4 I did a few months ago and I have had no problems with the console or controllers.

    Xbox controllers are the worst

I just did a google search for analog stick drift and found this thread. I have a black official 360 wireless controller that has this problem. It's one of the newer models with the glossy finish. The left analog stick drifts downward when I'm playing games.
When I leave the controller alone without me touching it, my character keeps moving backwards as if the analog stick is being pushed downwards. I've tried opening the controller up and switching the sticks, but that didn't help. I don't really want to buy
another new controller in case I have the same problem. I'll have to find one of the older models (which don't have the glossy finish) - never had this problem with any of the earlier controller models. I don't think the older models are being manufactured
any more though so I'll have to look for a used one I guess.

    XBOX 360 analog stick issue

I have had this problem before. It is caused by the springs in the controller being "soft" or having little resistance to the sticks. This is caused by excesive use of the controller's analog sticks. You may fix this by change the whole analog itself, or
buying a new controller. Buying a new controller would be better and easier.

XBOX Elite controller Series 2 stick Drift

The same thing just happened to me. My RB wasn't working so they sent me a controller with a nasty stick drift on the right analog. I will NEVER buy a elite controller again.
