Hacker shut down my internet from Xbox One

My 13 y/o son was playing Call of Duty Black Ops 2 last night on Xbox Live. I am not 100% sure what transpired, but basically a player with the user name of zVerxy threatened to "hack" his internet and sure enough, the game went down and my internet went
down. I work from home, so this is not funny at all to me. This is destruction of property, it affected my job and I want something to be done about it. I can see posts about this exact same thing from 4 years ago!! Why is it still being able to be done? There
has to be some consequence for it. Do I post it all over social media and encourage parents to stop buying xbox one for their kids? Is it just going to happen again? Our local police said they do not handle "Cyber crimes". I will continue to research until
I find out what can be done to this criminal.

So are Reach's servers shut down or is this a hacker, or poor internet connectivity?

Xbox one shuts down internet

So long story short. when i try to download a game on my xbox. after a few min. my internet speed drops next to nothing and fails completely. it only happens when i'm downloading a game or an update. if however the game has a updater like warframe i can
download its update no problem. I've checked with my internet company and they have no idea whats causing it. any thoughts

That's called a denial of service attack. That is done through your internet service and not the Live service. You would need to contact your ISP to alert them of what is happening.

We should just shut down the entire internet. Then poof, no more hackers anymore.

After trying many things I have found out my Xbox One only keeps shutting down when it is connected to the internet, if I plug in the internet cable or connect using wi-fi it will shut almost immediately, but when it is disconnected from the internet it
will stay on all day....weird.

bstn617 where did you read that XBL was attacked? It was claimed on Twitter from some hacker group that PSN was DDOS attacked by them. That does not make it fact.

But here is one fact, PSN was hacked and peoples information stolen. Which ultimately shut down for 6 weeks. Xbox Live has never been shut down, nor information stolen.
