Hacker messing with my connection, what can i do?

Hi,

i'm VpLu2, 23 years old, from Germany. I have been on Xbox LIVE for over 4 years now and I've never had any serious connectivity issues, until now.

Because on Sunday, while playing GTA Online, i got close to one player in a free roam session and he sent me a message over Xbox LIVE, asking what I want.

I replied and apparently he didn't like my reply since he then told me that he has my IP adress now because i sent him a message through Xbox LIVE and that he would "ban my IP for 7 years".

At first, i disregarded his threats. Why? Because if I had a dollar for every single time that someone told me they'd hack my account and in the end nothing happened, I'd be rich by now.

But apparently this time i ran into someone who wasn't joking.

Since Sunday, my Xbox can't connect to the internet anymore at all. When I try to connect, I get error messages about my IP and my router password that I've never seen before in the entire time I've been on Xbox LIVE.

And to top it all off, the connection on my Laptop has slowed down so badly that I can't even really load a website. Another problem I've never had to this extent.

I think I should add that both my xbox and my laptop connect to the internet through WLAN.

My knowledge on how to solve issues like this is quite limited. I knew how to open the ports for my Xbox to get an open NAT and i knew how to make it so my Xbox always has one IP adress instead of a new one every time i turn it on.

But this issue right here? I have no clue whatsoever on how to solve it. I have no experiences with getting hacked, DdoS'ed or anything similiar.

So if someone could help me work through this, that would really be awesome.

someone said he was going to hack my xbox live account

I was in a party with a friend and I was messing around in cod black ops 2 and his friend said I'm going to hack you because you're messing around can he really hack it??

How can it be any different?. They both are altering their own personal connection, and what happens to everyone else happens.

 

So i just informed myself a bit more and apparently this guy is attacking my connection via DDoS by sending huge loads of traffic to my connection and thus making sure it doesn't work?

I'm not sure, but that would explain why the connection on my laptop is too slow to load up any websites.

Does it also explain why my xbox can`t connect to the internet at all?

 

Hi,

Did you turn off and reboot your router ? If the problem persists the best is to contact your internet service and explain your problem.

 

I contacted my ISP, their customer service helped me resolve this issue.
