    Hacked XBox Live Account


    Hi my sons XBox Live account has been hacked, how do I get it reset. When I try to reset the password I get the option to send a code to an email ending in mailnesia.com or to call a number ending in 04. I don't own either of these. Apparently to speak to
    someone at XBox Live I need to login which I can't do.

    Can someone please help I have been trying to reset the password for 2 hrs and just get stuck in an endless loop of repeat questions which all come nack to sending a code to the mailnesia email,

    Microsoft you have a PROBLEM

    Unless a main website or service has been hacked - like PSN, it's not a hack ok.

    Phishing, NOT a hack

    Social engineering, NOT a hack

    Giving someone your LIVE ID to someone else and then losing your account,
    NOT a hack

    Using dodgy software or websites offering free points and what not, then losing your account, still
    NOT a hack.

    Signing up for various suspect websites using the same email address and password for LIVE. then losing your account. still
    NOT a hack.

    If EA was compromised and it held your Windows LIVE ID, this is technically a hack, but it's EA that would have been hacked, not Xbox LIVE. When I say 'hack' I mean a real, sophisticated website or server attack. A hack in the literal sense of the word.

    Xbox LIVE accounts can not be 'hacked' at least not in the literal sense you may believe. Of course there are many ways to have an account stolen, but non of them involve 'hacking'. If you have not give out your email address and password for your LIVE
    account to anyone then it should be perfectly safe.

    If this attack nocked you offline, that is a DOS attack and isn't strictly speaking hacking at all. Illegal yes, hacking? No.
