GWG for April 2015

Still dont get why people say these games are free??

 

Because they are free with a gold membership at no extra cost. Yes you have to pay for gold but there is no increase in gold pricing thus the games are free...with gold. Games with Gold.

 

But you cannot get the games without spending money. To me thats not free.

 

I suppose is all in how you look at it. If you already paid for your Gold months or years in advance it's free. It's a perk of the membership. If I sign up for a gym membership and get a free tshirt, well that tshirt isn't technically free but you didn't
have to pay extra for it. It's something extra you got for something you were going to do anyways. The program isn't called "Free Games". That would be a different story.

 

Just chiming in but the Games With Gold are not "free".

Before the change to GwG each User could keep and maintain any Game once Downloaded even after their Gold Account expired and while Offline. Now the Gold Account must be maintained to retain the Game. I would say it's closer to a pseudo rent now.

imo it was better before that change and this is from someone who has not had any lapse in Gold for over 8 years. Calling them "Hostage Games on a Conditional basis" would just to be too long.

 

Agree but some complained to not be treated like on another platform.

So Gold has been downgraded with less apps and a "rent games" system.

Remember,that Microsoft listen to their "fans"....Usually,for the worth.

 

To me free is getting something without paying, I see gwg more as a reward for subscribing.

 

i just watched the first 5 mins of child of light and will not even bother with that.. looks horrible (in my opinion)

Might download the pool one just because its free, otherwise i wouldnt bother.

Rayman, worms and Guacamelee were great GwG but the rest have been 'pap' in my eyes....

 

GWG is the only reason I paid for a Gold sub, £24 for a years gold and various games, cant complain to be honest. I grabbed Rayman during March, though still to play it, heard positive thing about that and Child Of Light.

 

I didn't pay any additional costs for my GWG so they were free to me. I mean right now Rayman shows a cost of €0.00.

 

While I understant that the GwG is never truly free, I was already paying for the Gold subscription and don't have any plans to stop anytime soon, so like Boas said, it feels kind of like a reward, which it technically is. I'm also aware that we're not going
to be able to keep them like when it was originally implemented if we unsubscribe, but like I said above, I have no plans to get rid of it, so it might as well be like I own it - after all, as long as I have it, there really is no difference.

 

I was paying the same for gold way before GWG was ever imagined and would do so even if it wasn't here now but one thing caught my eye above and i'm hoping i read it wrong but do we now have to keep gold to play the GWG titles downloaded??? I'm a few coffee's
from being awake so i hope i just misread that but that was one of my favorite things about the GWG system was it's difference to the Plus program as you could play the games even if you had a silver spell.

 

Only reason i paid for gold was the apps i used where stuck behind a pay wall never had gold on 360 and with some of people ive played online and now that i can us apps i wont be renewing and what weve been in gwg so far wouldnt make me stay on gold

 

@Yellow, I like the idea of only being able to play these games with a current live membership..... after all, membership does have it's privileges.

 

Only reason I went Gold again was because I thought by doing so the I would get GwG to keep. Which is the way all this GwG started out.

I went so far as to look into updating my HDD on the 360 to 500 GB and began putting aside cash for it.

Now, after reading Lost Kauz post. I will instead just put that cash towards a PS3 and see how the other side lives.

Oh, well. I was in the market for a Blu Ray player anyway, so in this way I can kill 2 birds with one stone.
