this guy going my party and dossed me and before he did that he found out where we all live and now I get kicked offline all the time. I have his gamer tag and it is recorded on my twitch stream

Last night i was sitting in a party and I was invited to a party by ([Mod Removed]) i invited him back to my party and thats where he threaten me and then invited his friend ([Mod Removed]) who also threaten my friend who
said he could find his ip and thats when he said if my friend got his actual ip he would get ddos and swatted..... Shortly after them leaving the party me and my 3 friend that were in the party continued to get hit off all threw the night.

this kid joined my party with me and me and my friends got all hostile on us and kept threatening to boot us off the internet, so i told him to leave my party, he then traced my ip address (easy thing to do over xbox) and he flooded me so i got booted offline
i got his ip and blocked it so he cant flood me anymore but please ban him and take legal action against him if you can microsoft, since flooding is a international law.

 

You would need to contact your ISP to alert them of what is happening so they can help you get back online and stay online.

If you haven't done so already, you'd want to file a complaint on him via the console in order for the enforcement team to investigate him.

 

I would contact Microsoft customer support immediately about this player. Block and report but follow up with MS directly. Additionally contact your ISP so they can provide you with a new IP address.

As Smwutches said, Your only real option is to contact your isp the moment the attack occurs, They are able to block the incoming attack and get you back online, Also most isp's will then track and report the incident as most countries class a ddos attack
as a cyber crime.

Theres not really much microsoft can do as the attack is not happening over xbox live its being directed straight at your networking equipment via your ip address and unfortunately it is very simple to obtain the ip addresses of
every player you meet online whether its on xbox live, PS or PC.

 

Let xbox know ASAP from when I look into how people do this back in the day (When I played 360) one of the primary steps is to actually infect your personal Console with a code in order to see the IP of anyone in the party with you. With the info you can
tell service provider, mail location, weather. enough to freak them out and DDOS but not usually enough to show up to their home and harm them.

I haven't carefully read over xbox terms and service or code of conduct yet since I'm new but pretty sure infecting and jailbreaking your xbox violates something in one of those. so like everyone is saying get them reported ASAP so enforcement can take a
look at what the player is doing. Maybe even mention when messaging them that you have it clipped and have it ready incase they want to look at it.

 

You can contact your ISP to get the ip for your modem changed. usually IP's are assigned for a set amount of time by your ISP so just turning the modem off for a few hours typically wont register it with a new one. If you want to make it to where you dont
have to rely on your ISP to change your IP (hold times are terrible sometimes) you can do the following:

1. buy a router. most modems have routers built in but get your own. you will still use the one your ISP provided you with you just need your own wireless router.

2. update the router and go through the basic setup config and have it connected to your modem.

3. turn off your modem

4. whenever you get hit by a ddos attack you can go into the routers config and set a mac address to whatever it says the mac of the router is just change the last letter/number to something else. so if your mac is 3E:43:87:H7:J2:87 change it to 3E:43:87:H7:J2:88
and save the config. once the change is made and the router reboots turn on your ISP's modem and it will detect that the mac has changed and your modem will be assigned a new external IP address. You can verify your ip by using a site called ipburger.com.

This option sounds like a lot of work but of all the routers i have owned so far the hardest part was finding the menu with the option to spoof/change the routers mac address. routers both cheap and expensive typically have this option and this process is
available only to folks that have their own router. folks that rely on using the ISP's modem as their router have this config hidden in the admin section because they allow and deny service based on the mac address of the modem so if it changes you wont have
service. another thing to note is the external ip changes not the internal ip. 192.168.x.x isnt seen by the outside world so thats why ipburger is used to verify the current external IP and verify the new external IP after the change.

if this is the first and only time it has happened to you then just call your ISP and get one time help but if your worried that it might happen again in the future use the above option and the steps i provided and you can effectively change your IP in less
than a minute. I have confirmed this works on both comcast and verizon fios. It also works on antietam broadband but those are the only services i have used over the years but the process is the same.

Another future idea is to not leave groups as joinable. with invite only no one can pop into your group stealing your IP. tell your friends to lock it down too if they are in control of the chat.
