When your moving your Xbox One around with you (maybe on holiday and taking it with you), you may find that when you plug everything in and switch the Xbox One on you get a blank screen.

Don't panic, it could be that the TV / Monitor runs at a lower resolution than you were previously using.

Follow these steps to allow you to boot your Xbox One at a lower resolution, so you can get into the settings and fine tune those settings.

1 - Make sure you do not have any discs in your Xbox.

2 - Make Sure your Xbox is turn off completely, press and hold the Xbox SYMBOL on your Console till it beeps and turns off.

3 - Press and HOLD the Xbox SYMBOL on the front of the Xbox Console and the EJECT.

- You will hear a beep, keep holding down the buttons down, until you hear a second BEEP.

4 - This will force your Xbox One to boot into a Low resolution mode. You can now enter settings, all settings, display and then Video output.

There nothing worse than taking your Xbox One on holiday and it boots into a BLACK SCREEN.

Enjoy your game playing while on holiday.

:)

Xbox Not Turning On

Hi there legobomber9,

Sounds like the issue is actually that you're not getting a signal, not so much that the console isn't receiving power. There is an Xbox 360 "blank screen" guide that's most effective for these types of issues:

support.xbox.com/.../tv-or-monitor-screen-is-blank-while-connected

Checking your cable is step 2, so since you've already tried another cable, I recommend following that guide for solutions 3-6. [Guide] Move to another TV thats not 1080p and getting blank screen on the new TV (lower res ... :)

XBOX WONT DISPLAY ON MY TV ANYMORE

Once you hook up to a higher resolution it takes precedes over smaller ones. By picking 1080p you console has saved it in the settings. When your hooking it up to the 720P the Xbox is looking for the 1080p signal but there isn't one thus causing the black
screen. You have to bring it back to 1080p TV and lower the setting to 720p and save it then move to new TV. The Xbox unfortunately does not have a resolution auto-detection installed.

My Xbox one s updated now my Xbox won't display in anything apart from 480p.

I have tried a 1080p tv a 1080p monitor and a 4k tv the monitor and 4k tv dont show any screen just a blank screen. How long does a repair normally take and what happens with the cost of postage as im sure a heavy xbox wont be cheap to send?

Gave X1 a shot, but it really is going to be lagging behind this Gen
and is easily noticable on a decent tv at the distances most people game at.
No, it's not, and here's
the chart to prove it.

I happen to sit six feet from a 55" TV. When seated, I get the full benefits of 1080p. When I stand up and move closer to the TV (3-4ft), it becomes obvious that the TV is a lower resolution than my computer monitor, but when seated that isn't an issue because
I move my head back another two feet and the grain disappears. I am an exception, not the rule. My friends, my relatives - they don't position their TVs anywhere near close enough to gain the benefits of 1080p. At 10', one would have to own a 60" TV to see
some benefit to 1080p, and a 75" TV to receive the full benefits of 1080p.

People have to be sitting on top of their TVs for 1080p to be of benefit. At 10 (hence the name, "10' interface")', 1080p vs 720p is a non-issue for a 55" TV.
