Friday the 13th The Game can be fun for experienced players but not everyone knows the ins and outs to surviving and slaying in the game. Here are a few tips for playing as Jason

1. As Jason, you'll always start off in his hut. There are 2 throwing knives right in front of you. Be sure to pick them up as well as others. You never know when you may need that long distance pain.

2. Some Jason characters can run while others cannot. Be aware of this if you are choosing which character you want to play. Some counsellors have better stamina than others.

3. Be aware of the pros and cons of each Jason. Some will have a stronger grip that is harder to escape from and some will be easier to knock out.

4. If the Jason you get is able to, then be sure to set traps in strategic places on the maps. I find it helpful to put traps around the cars near the battery and gas tanks. As Jason you're notified when someone gets trapped so you can get to the quickly
and take them out. Once a trap has been sprung you can reset it.

5. It takes longer for Jason to open a glass door than to smash through it.

6. Be aware of sound circles as the counsellors are moving around the map. Use them to your advantage to find them. But don't be tricked by radios. Radios will make steady sounds try and distract you from your victims.

7. Be aware of your controls. Jason has some good in game perks to help you catch your victims. Using the right bumper along with the proper bumper allows Jason to better catch his prey.

RB+X = Shift This is the ability to move quickly in an area so you can catch up to your prey faster (kind of like the demon view in the Evil Dead movies). Shift is a limited time ability and takes a little time to rebuild.

RB+Y = Stalk This ability will turn off your scary music making it easier to sneak up on your victims. I can almost hear their screams of fear as I suddenly appear next to them.

RB+B = Morph This ability allows you to zip to any area on the map. Use this ability right off the bat when you spawn in as Jason. Be sure you note which campground the counsellors are in during the opening cut scene though.

RB+A = Sense One of the most useful abilities that Jason has. Again, this is a limited time ability but renews fairly quickly. Sense is like heat vision for Jason. It helps him find the counsellors or which building they may be hiding
in. The counsellors will glow red based on their fear level.

8. Use your map often. If someone is escaping by car or boat you can see the vehicle moving on the map and can plan to morph ahead of them to stop them.

9. As Jason, you can stop a car by getting in front of it and letting it hit you. From there get to the driver as quick as you can, pull them out of the car and put an end to their escape. If they are in the boat you can still get to them and dump them
in the water making the kill that much easier.

10. Be sure to use your environment. There are many environment kills to be had. From using doors, fireplaces, campfires, windows and even sleeping bags. See how many you can find.

[Guide] How to Play Friday the 13th as a Counsellor

Playing as a counsellor can be a daunting experience in Friday the 13th. Hopefully these tips can help you survive the night.

1. First, let's take a look at the controls for the counsellors

LT = aim (if you have the shotgun or flare gun) or dodge while in combat stance

RT = attack with a weapon or use a large item.

Both LT and RT are used during the repair mini games

LB = turns your flashlight on and off

RB = looks behind you while on foot or in a vehicle or blocks while in combat stance

A = Interact with an item or attempt to break free from Jason's grasp

X = Use a small item. You can only carry 3 items at a time so be sure what you have

Y = Use an ability (ie. open windows, lock doors)

B = Crouch or hold your breath

Right Thumbstick = pressed in will put you in combat stance

Holding down on the D-Pad will drop an item

2. Escaping is the first and only directive of the counsellor. As such your prime directive is to search for items that will help you survive and escape. For the cars you'll need to find the battery, gas and the keys before you can escape. After finding
these items you'll need to get to the car, repair it and try to drive out. It's always best to have someone in the car who has a map ability. They can keep their eye on the map and guide you while you drive. There are two cars. The blue car can hold four
counsellors and the yellow car can only hold two counsellors.

3. There is a boat that needs to be repaired as well. You'll need to find the motor and gas for the boat. Be aware though that Jason can move much faster in the water than the boat can. You are much easier to catch in the water than you are on land.

4. Be sure to search everywhere. Every drawer, every room. You cannot communicate with other counsellors unless you are near them or find a radio. Jason can only hear what you are saying if he is nearby so be careful.

5. There are many helpful items for counsellors. From weapons such as machetes, baseball bats and guns to items such as health spray, pocket knives (to help you escape his grab) and maps.

6. Pocket knives are some of the most useful small items. If you are grabbed by Jason press X until you stab him in the neck. This will force him to release you and stun him for a short period of time so you can try to escape. You can also use pocket
knives to spring traps that Jason has placed.

7. It will take Jason several hits to break down a wooden door. Only one hit to break down a glass door.

8. Jason can smash windows. Be aware the jumping through a closed window or a smashed window will injure you. Do this too many times and your character will die.

9. Do not betray other counsellors. You will lose 1,000 xp for every counsellor you betray.

10. Do not use glitches or, as a counsellor, help Jason find other counsellors. Gun Media has instituted a new banning policy. Getting caught doing these things could result in you being banned permanently from the game.

11. Remember that the more noise you make, the faster Jason can find you. Activities like failing a repair mini game, running or opening/closing doors all make noise. Try to be as quiet as possible. Crouching is one of the best ways to make as little
noise as possible.

12. Trying to hide for the full time of the game is not always the best policy. Jason can and will find you. If you are stuck in a closet you're in big trouble.

13. Remember to use some of your earned CP to roll perks for the counsellors. You can add some good perks such as spawning with a map or a radio.
