    I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this. Every time I press the guide button on my controller (came with the series x), the menu does not come up, nor do the options to power off/restart appear when you hold it. The console also does not turn on when you hold the guide button down. I turn it on by pressing the console itself and re-pairing the controller to the console manually.

    There have been a few random exceptions with the guide popping up ever since I got my console, I'd say less than 5. I've had this issue since I got the Series X and had just been working around it with the xbox app connecting to my monitor. That has since stopped working. Ironically, as I typed this, the guide came up randomly after pressing the guide button a bunch. I closed it, tried again numerous times, and it failed.

    My only possible theory is that I got this console/controller within the same month that the Series X came out and this is just early product struggles, considering I've had it since then.

    My controller and console are both all the way up to date.

    If there's a fix to this or if anyone's ever had a similar problem, I'd love to know.

    guide buttons not working

    Sorry to hear it. I had that once a while back but a factory reset solved the issue. There is an option to keep installed games and apps so you won't need to worry about redownloading if you choose to give this a try.

    yes its just the LB button its not working at all. the rest of the controller actually works just the that one button that does not work.

    I tried this but it didn’t work whenever I plug it in if my controller ever does stay on it barely works and it moves a lot on its own. Everything works fine when it’s not plugged in.

    Actually, that's a standard wired Xbox 360 controller. They have a breakaway design. It sounds like you're missing the other end of it.

    Sorry for the late replies, I don't have my own internet connection at home and I struggle to connect to the hotspots in the apartment building.

    Anyway, no I don't have another cable to try. I was looking through my "bag of wires and spares" and came across an xbox pad but not sure why I bought it.

    It's wired but it's not USB. It looks like a PS2 plug (the old mouse and keyboard type thing.)

    But I've never had PS2 ports on my laptops since i got my Xbox so I really don't know the use for it.
