Guest account restrictions

Hello to everyone who reads this. I have a bit of a concern with the guest accounts restrictions. I had to purchase a new xbox one s because my original xbox one was stolen from me. In an effort to prevent this from happening again and stopping anyone
from being able to again access, I changed my xbox live account password, set up passkeys and lock down my account. While doing so I discovered that you could restrict access from the guest profile or default profile that you do not have to sign into. So
I set up a guest passkey and decided to try it out. I then discovered that from the default/guest profile without putting in the passkey, you could go into the settings and reset the system to a factory default, which I was able to do. Making it a fresh
out the box system and usable by anyone who have have stolen it from someone. All I want is to make sure that this information gets passed up to Microsoft so an update or something could fix this problem. I was not able to play a game from the default/guest
account because I need a passkey to install/ play it but I was able to reset the console to factory default without one. Thank you for help in this matter.

Setting up accounts for family members

Unfortunately each account needs to be signed in; however you can always let him play on a guest account instead. You can set parental controls on a guest account as well; we actually have a guide for it here: Guest Restrictions

If there is only one person signed in to the console, the guest account has the same privacy settings as that host.

If there are multiple household members signed in, the guest account has the same privacy and online safety settings as the family member with the most restrictive settings. For example, if a child is signed in, the guest is restricted by the child's settings.

As soon as either the host or the guest signs out, the guest account is removed from the console. If your guest anticipates playing on this console in the future, we recommend that they create a Microsoft account and gamertag on the console.

Jeremy is here to drop some more tips! I do understand your situation since I try to restrict my lil brother from doing this or that with my account.

I would recommend to set up a
passkey and not a
Guest Key.

Guest key: Adds restrictions to guest accounts that are not real accounts created with an email. (mostly used for guests)

Passkey: Allows you to put restrictions on individual accounts that are on the console.

Once you sign into the account you want to restrict (or if it's a child account, then sign into the parent account) then go to your
Settings-> Account-> Sign in and security->
Change my sign-in and security-> Then scroll to the far right->
select customize<

After selecting customize all you need to do is apply any restrictions on the account. (Make sure to create a passkey in the process as well)
