Guess the Metacritic score for Sunset Overdrive & Lords of the Fallen!

Both games are being released on the same day, October 28th, so I thought it would be fun for everyone to guess what their overall Metacritic scores will be.

What I think...

Sunset Overdrive will be received favorably by critics and end up with an overall Metacritic score between 80-90, personal guess an 88.

Lords of the Fallen on the other hand will be received very mixed by critics and end up with an overall Metacritic score between 60-70, personal guess an 65.

Dragon Age, Lords of the Fallen, Shadows of Mordor, AC Unity, and Sunset Overdrive are the best games coming out this year

I think Sunset Overdrive will get between 80-85.

I got Lords of the Fallen yesterday (4 days early, woo hoo!), it's good, but it has a few problems. I think it'll get somewhere between 70-75.

 

Regardless of what score Sunset Overdrive gets there's no denying the amount of quality just oozing from it. There have been a lot of high quality games that I didn't like though. I hope I enjoy it.

 

I don't care to hazard a guess, but I am hoping Sunset Overdrive does well as I think it definitely has the potential to do so.

Not sure I've looked too much into lords of the fallen, so no idea if that's an RPG or what.

 

I think lords of the fallen will get some 90's and some 70's, mixed like Wolf said.

DA, it's an rpg that has combat similar to dark souls. Could be epic.

 

Based on what I've seen of Lords of Fallen, it's a shameless Dark Souls ripoff. Needless to say, I'm not interested. As far as Metacritic scores go, I'm expecting both games are going to be in the 20 to 30 range

So far "Lords Of The Fallen" is on 90% from the one site that's reviewed it.

 

@Azrael008uk - Yeah I saw your other thread, that's pretty impressive but we'll have to wait and see when more reviews come out. I still think it'll end up between 60-70.

IGN gave SO a 9/10

Gameinformer gave SO a 9.25/10

Polygon gave it a 9/10

Joystiq gave it a 5/5

Gamefront gave SO a 9.2/10

 

Sunset is clocking at 82 on Metacritic as of right now.

LOTF is clocking at 79.

 

So "Sunset" is currently clocking at 82... and at first I thought this was due to people who don't own it just logging on to give it a low score out of spite... when I realised that there are some hilariously low scores coming from actual legitimate publications...

Digital Spy and The Guardian give it 60?!?!?! The Telegraph and Gametrailers give it 70?!?!?!?!

I really hope someone is getting paid off by Sony because those scores have been either bought or their reviewers have a fundemental misunderstanding of their chosen field of journalism.

The game is brilliant. Even stupid people can play it and succeed, even if the story, cultural references and humour are going to be completely lost on them.

"Lords Of The Fallen" didn't make as many headlines and for that reason doesn't have as many journalists approaching it with a hidden agenda and I'd say that the 79 it's currently clocking at is a very fair score.

Yeah, it's a lot like "Dark Souls"... but it's not as cheap as "Dark Souls" and you won't need a Youtube guide to see you through so you can get the achievements and shrug your shoulders at people who complained it was difficult and claim you never used
a guide.

At first I thought it was a kinder, gentler version of "Dark Souls"... that was until I faced the Commander... and he punched me in the face... a lot.

As much as grinding to improve your character there's learning how the different stuff works... getting to grips with it... getting a command of it... and then using it. Again, you won't need a guide to tell you what to do. Just a little experimenting
and reading what things do and you can put that in to play to start achieving some measure of success.

Looks great. Very atmospheric, but doesn't have that triple AAA polish yet it remains a very good game that's well worth checking out.
