GTAV - Where is it?

Games go for per-order/download when they go gold. Just like every other game on the Xbox store.

 

I'd be surprised if it hasn't gone gold yet, it comes out within seven days.

 

Which is exactly my point, Goat. Also, Akame - regarding any potential deal, why have I not seen any advertising for it on the XB1 itself?

 

Neither have I here in the UK. The only X1 adverts I've seen are for the Sunset game/console and tons of Cod for the X1. There is every chance Sony have forked out for a bit of a deal, just like Ms has probably done to advertise Cod for the X1.

 

Yeah Sony and Rockstar probably have a deal. For example I haven't seen any COD:AW commercials for PS4. Or Destiny commercials for X1 (although we already know there's a deal in place there).

I personally don't like this practice. That means that a console manufacturer is paying stupid more money just to advertise that game for their system instead of directing those financial resources elsewhere. Remember when there would be a game commercial
and it would be an advertisement for the game itself and not specifically for the console? Then in the end it would say "Now available for Xbox and Playstation." Now a company has exclusive rights to advertise a multi platform game.... how stupid.

 

@GG what does you seeing a lack of advertising on Xbox One have to do with a game being available for preload or not?

MS went as far as to create a website to let people know Destiny was available on Xbox One/360 and the game was still made available for preloading.

Either the game hasn't gone gold yet or wont be made available for preloading (which is a publisher decision) See Lords of the Fallen for proof.

Also stop with these conspiracy theories. No wonder why people hate coming here, you xbox fans are weird and paranoid

Akame, I never said the 2 were mutually exclusive - they're 2 completely separate but what I find to be rather curious topics.

 

Didn't Far Cry 4 release today? That was only put up for pre-order last Thursday.

Following that timeline, GTA V could potentially be made available in a couple of days time - plenty of time to download the game before release.

As someone pointed out, Sony will happily take your pre-order money well in advance and the download can be done much closer to release. On Xbox One, you can only pre-order when the game is available for pre-loading *also*.

Pre-ordering digital only when pre-load is available is sensible if an organization doesn't want to waste support time dealing with cancellation of orders due to either delays (think Battlefield Hardline) or outrage over cancelled games (think Towns on Steam
Greenlight).

That I'm aware of, there's only been one or two Xbox One games where the digital download wasn't available at the same time the retail disc became available. Not really seeing the issue in buying it the day of release. It's not like there aren't plenty of
other things to play in the interim.

It's actually AC Rogue I'm looking forward to the most at the moment, only a few day's for that.
