GTA V won’t let me play

every time I want to play gta5, a screen pops up saying ‘if you have a game disc, insert now. If you purchased this online, make sure you are signed into Xbox live. If you don’t have rights for playing it, you’ll need to get them from the Microsoft store.’ I
am signed into Xbox live and the game is purchased and downloaded. What do I do?

I havent even went into online and i cant play on gtav

i havent wven played online and it wont let me play gta v online

 

This happens with a digitally purchased game when the account that purchased the game is either not signed in on the console or does not have that console set as its home console so that any other profile on that console can play the game.

Or if the game was purchased with one of the profiles on the console and the console is set as its home console then the license was taken away for that game.

This normally happens with a refund whether it was requested by calling up xbox support or if the charge was disputed through the bank that the purchase was made through and the bank charged it back and Microsoft gave the money back.

so the first thing that you want to do is make sure that the account you are using is the one that you used to purchase the game with or the account that did purchase the game has your console set as that accounts home console.

secondly if you had the game disc and installed it from there you would have to keep the disc in the console to play the game because that is the only way that the console is going to know that you own the license for the game. This saves people from going
and renting games (yes you can still rent games (redbox does it)) installing them then returning the disc.

 

thanks for replying when the Xbox was bought, it was bought with gta on it already so when I set it up, all i had to do was download the game and I didn’t need the disc. I have been playing on gta5 since December with no worries and now it won’t let me
play.

I have made sure that the console is set to it’s home console and it still won’t work. What do you mean when you say that the license was taken away?

 

Now when you say it had the game on it already did you buy the system used and the game was already on it?

Or did it come with a little card that had a 25 digit code on it that you would have put into the system on a profile?

Or when you turned the system on it was automatically showing up in the ready to install section of my games and apps?

Was there any other profiles on the console already when you bought it?
