    GTA V - Installation freezing and stopping at 17%


    I wanted to play GTA V with my friends and i deleted the game way back in January and now it is May I felt liek downloading it again but everytime I downloaded it the download speed would go incredibly fast (about 100mbps) and then once it got specifically
    to 7.41 gb out of 42 then it would stop, my disk would make a weird noise and then say the disc is damaged or dirty. I have tried all the steps; Like powercycling the console, deleting storage, resetting the console, deleting persistent storage, deleting local
    saved games, downloading without internet. The only way I have got it to work so far is by putting the game in and cancelling the download and then going to the store and pressing install on the GTA V page but this download speed takes about 4 hours just for
    1 gigabyte. I decided to also download another game to see if it was the game and no, AC: Unity downloaded really fast, about 20 gigs in 2 minutes. It's just GTA that is not working.

    Installation problem

    Got pre owned Gta v I can't see any scratches. I installed it OFFLINE and it stopped at 17% I tried restarting it, it updated 0.01gb then it said installation stopped! I even left on over night it didn't update at all! I think I've tried everything so PLS

    Hi there,

    It's true they originally said they do not recommend installing the game disc to the Hard Drive, however, it has been shown that installing the game disc to a USB drive and the installation disc to the Hard Drive gives better performance.

    What's the age and the model of the console? The installation is mostly from the Xbox network, so I can't see this being the disc.

    I would suggest this a failing hard drive. Are you able to try an external drive?
    The Console is an Xbox One S, 1TB internal storage, that I bought in late 2017, to early 2018.

    It also has 4TB of external disk space, which is not full, and what the game was trying to download on. The external hard drive still has around 2.5 TB left on it. The console has around 350 GB.
