GTA/gamepass problems!

My son cant play GTA. He had purchased it and downloaded it to his account, which is under my family account. He was playing it ok until recently but it no longer works. It keeps asking him to purchase a license, but we do have gamepass ultimate. The console is set as the home xbox to my account. He wants to game with friends, but using his own account rather than mine as he has made purchases within GTA which he cannot access from my account.

Gamepass is not available for the Xbox 360, also GTA V is available for Gamepass on Xbox one.

In order to play GTA 5 via gamepass you will need gamepass on an xbox one console.

I believe that GTA V will be replaced with Red Dead Redemption 2 on the 7th May.

GTA was purchased on his account. It isn’t a game pass game at the moment so he bought it. But he needs to play it through game pass to play online. He had been playing it but it stopped working today?

When he tries to play on his account it tries to get him to sign up to another game pass. But other games play ok,m on his account, using the game pass.

My account is the principal account and has the ultimate game pass. But I am able to share the pass with my son and he can use the pass with his account. Other games still work for him, but not GTA.

Confused!

Hello again, it may be a system problem in identifying the sharing of your account that has Game Pass Ultimate.

Follow this procedure below, and the first account to be placed on the console has to be yours with an active Game Pass subscription.

Xbox One reset keeping Games:

Press the Xbox button to open the panel.

Select system > Settings > System > Console Information

Select Reset console.

Restore and maintain my games and apps.

Rest assured, you won't miss games or saves

Note: You need to know the email and passwords of your accounts when performing this reset.

If the game was purchased on your child's account, simply log in normally and try to play GTA.

You mention the Home Console, but which account is set as principal on the console, yours or your child's, and which of the two accounts has the game and Game Pass subscription?

Or was the game purchased on one account and Game Pass on another?
