Groove with Xbox One S and surround sound

I have a surround sound system connected with my xbox one S. I have changed the xbox audio setting to surround sound. I recieve all audio channels correctly to my surround sound reciever with games, Bluray Movies, set-top box from my Dish. However, it doesn't
with Groove music, YouTube or other apps. In fact nothing comes out of my subwoofer with Groove. If I project my Windows 10 laptop to my TV and run Groove my reciever works fine including subwoofer. So I know it has something to do on the Xbox One S. Any suggestions

    :)

    Can't Watch SD

Currently, the xbox one does not support digital surround sound via HDMI pass through. I believe they are working on a fix for this.

If you need surround sound, you could perhaps use a S/PDIF digital optical cable from the xbox to your surround capable receiver

Stereo Headset Adapter and Turtle Beach X12

The best way to get your x12's to work on your xbox one is the DSS2 surround sound adapter from turtle beach

    Live TV picture quality

I always recommend running S/PDIF for audio surround sound. It eliminates an 'extra' pass-through of the AVR. There is a beta of the HDMI surround sound pass-through, but that particular function is indeed beta. Although technically if you wanted surround
sound for everything (I imagine you would...) 2 S/PDIF's one from the cable box, one from xbox to the AVR. Not 100% ideal, but we are working on it. The Xbox One is a constantly evolving eco-system, the console you see today will not be the same console in
6-12 months down line. Thank you for understanding and your input, we will continue to release updates for more advanced and better features.

The Difference Is I dont Cheat

    @OP

I have been using a surround sound system for my home theatre since BEFORE the original xbox came out. I used one with my original xbox BEFORE xbox live was out.

I admit to sound whoring, and I can do it just as good with my surround sound system now, as I could back in Halo 2 and crimson skies. Does that make me a cheater?...

I can sound *** the same with Surround sound as I can with my X11's that I use on my secondary xbox. Whats the diferance? Am I only cheating when using the X11's rather than the Surround sound?... Are the X11's only cheating because the are newer, or more
    hyped or popularised?...

BTW, all the sound whoring is there because the developers made the games in SUROUND SOUND. i.e. DD5.1, or some form of stereo surround encoding (for stereo things like X11s). Surournd encoding was part of gaming on consoles BEFORE online gaming was, even
stereo console like the PS1 and N64 had discrete back chanel encoding in the stereo stream for use with Pro Logic systems.

Never was cheating, never will be, get over it.
