Groove Music, Movies & TV are associated with Microsoft Account or Xbox Account

Hello!

Earlier Groove Music was Xbox Music, and Movies & TV was Xbox Videos. To access these both, we needed to set Xbox region to a region where Xbox Music and Xbox Videos were supported.

I want to know that, now, are Groove Music and Movies & TV associated with the Microsoft Account or the Xbox Account? If I migrate my Xbox account to a different Microsoft account (using
this), will Groove Music and Movies & TV also move to new Microsoft account? Or these services have nothing to do with Xbox anymore?

For the sake of simplicity, assume that the regions will be same for old and new Microsoft accounts.

Start here for Groove Music and Microsoft Movies & TV troubleshooting!

Music or videos not working? Missing episodes or songs? If so, you have come to the right place. Below are the first basic steps to get your Xbox Music & Video content working properly.

Step 1: Refresh your purchase history on your Xbox 360 console:

Microsoft Movies & TV:

Launch Microsoft Movies & TV

Slide left to "My Videos"

Select "Account Management"

Press "X" to refresh

Groove Music:

Launch Groove Music

Slide left to "My Music"

Select "Account Management"

Select "Purchase History"

Press "X" to refresh

Step 2: Make a post

The more info provided in your initial post, the faster a resolution is headed your way.

Movies and TV Xbox Family Sharing

Why am I not able to share movies or TV shows that I have purchased the rights to view with family members that are connected to my account using the family share feature? Currently if I have multiple Xbox consoles and my family member decides to watch a
movie or TV show using Microsoft Movies and TV they must be logged in with my account. If while they are watching a movie I cannot use my account on a different console without stopping the digital content being watched on the separate console. Can the movies
and tv app be integrated with the family sharing feature so family members can share their movies and tv content so everyone can watch and play together?

As far as I know, both are associated to your Xbox Live account. So if you transfer your gamertag to a new MSA through your 360, everything should still work fine. Licenses are attached to the gamertag not to the MSA itself.

What I mean is they should move as well to the new MSA account. Both groove, movies and tv licenses are attached to the gamertag. So wherever MSA you transfer your gamertag, everything should work the same.

Hey there,

Where did you sign up for the Groove Music promotion? If it was on your Xbox One console through the dashboard ad, please be sure to post back here to let us know.

If you signed up through Groove Music's website, or through the Windows Store on Windows 10, you should have received your code within 30 days in your Microsoft Account's email inbox. If you did not see a code come in within that
time, you will want to reach out to Microsoft Support or make a post on the
Microsoft Groove forums. We are only able to assist with promotions that are ran through the Xbox One dashboard.
