I think that you are right D Seeker34, it would be very weird that we both would own a dying Xbox /: But I guess that it could be possible too...it just feels weird to me that it would be a problem with some update, since then this could probably be a much
more common problem s: I haven't ever even tried World Of Tanks, even though I was planning on doing that Grey tiles and other very weird problems with MOST of the Xbox Live -related things. :) But now it will probably take a while until I can...

Also thank you for the pic, that looks exactly like the dashboard on my Xbox right now.

As a reply to Mister Quimby, unfortunately I can't check the software version right now, but I can get to that later. However, I have tested the Xbox live connection many times by now and everytime it has been fine and there haven't been any prompts to update
    anything.

My Network connection was fine - all green- while I was having this problem until I deleted the last update, upon Support's suggestion. But since I have been unable to reload that update by any means I have NO online connection now. If I try to update with
the CD again my Xbox says it is up to date. But then after I hit ok another dialogue box comes up saying that I need to update but it is unavailable at t his time.

I will go through these steps and find the software today.

What type of modem/router do you have er1k122?

    When I test my connection:

I system update is needed to get online but is not available.

If I press the ok it says there is a problem with my connection and the red x is my Xbox live. The network and internet is fine.

I only have been getting this message since I deleted the last Xbox update upon the suggestion Support. I have been unable to reupdate my Xbox using a USB or CD.

Grey tiles and other very weird problems with MOST of the Xbox Live -related things.

I got my Xbox 360 working again Grey tiles and other very weird problems with MOST of the Xbox Live -related things. :) For me, it seems that the main problem was my internet connection. I use a router that has a SIM card in it (I'm not completely sure what to call it in english) and today I got a tip from someone that those kind of routers
don't really work very well with gaming consoles. It sounded weird to me, because my connection was seemingly fine and had been all along. But I decided to check it through the service page of the router. There it said that it needed an update. I updated the
router software and also cleaned the usage history and then connected it back to my console. Now the tiles aren't grey anymore and i'm able to download things and all that Grey tiles and other very weird problems with MOST of the Xbox Live -related things. :) However, some of my games are still missing saved game data (not all of them though),
so in my case it might still mean that this original hard drive of mine is somehow corrupted s: Should I still continue playing on it, or should I start all over again on a new one?

  5. hey there all, iv been watching this post for a while and I believe it maybe a network error. even though the xboxs are connected to it firewalls can still be blocking some information this will be the same downloading to pc for usb/cd update. so would like
to know what routers you are running and if you are able to change the firewall settings and portforwarding

    for port forwarding

Ok right as this was another users post, what trouble shooting attempts have you tried error codes encountered and any other useful information that could help narrow down the problem and if possible detail all this in a new post tailored to your problem

er1k122 - Happy to hear it got resolved! You should be good to go from here, but keep an eye out for any other odd issues! Grey tiles and other very weird problems with MOST of the Xbox Live -related things. :)

D Seeker34 - Since you have more than one Xbox console, you don't need to set up port forwarding. I suggest removing all of the ports forwarded for your Xbox console and enable UPnP. If the issue persists, I recommend following Tat1664's
advice and post a fresh thread so we can continue providing support tailored for you! Grey tiles and other very weird problems with MOST of the Xbox Live -related things. :)

Just wanted to update. I solved the problem. It was the wired connection. I attached my son's Xbox and it did the same thing so I knew it was not the Xbox itself. I disconnected the ethernet cable and put on the rabbit ears and voila it worked perfectly.
Not sure what is wrong with my wired connection but it might just be the cable itself.

  11. We are having similar issues with our xbox one. It is less than 1 year old and is used for maybe 1 to 2 hours a week so for it to be breaking down on us is ridiculous. I am very disappointed in this console.

Well, now I have taken the pictures...but I really don't know if they would be much help s: I'm pretty sure that at least here on my end, this problem is caused by some sort of memory corruption. I found out today, that some of my games don't have the save
game files left anymore, or at least the system can't find them. I think that this would also explain the grey tiles and everything, because my internet connection should work like a charm and problems didn't just start instantly (as in, instant disconnection
from the internet can't be the case here obviously). I think that for me this means that I have to buy a new console, because even a test with a new hard drive didn't help s: That would mean that the corruption is not happening only on the hard drive, but
on somekind of a system memory as well, right?

I don't have a possiblity of testing my profile on a different Xbox, but I have already tried a different Xbox Live profile on my console and the exactly same problems occur s: I also can't take a picture right now, only much later today. To clarify, should
I take a picture of the mostly grey dashboard or something else?

Could both of you try your profiles on a different Xbox 360 console or try a different Xbox Live profile on your Xbox 360 consoles? I'd like to see if the issue persists or not in either of those scenarios.

Also, if either of you could get a picture or screenshot of the issue and link it in this thread, that will definitely help us a lot!

    Thanks guys! :)
